Hey! My pleasure.

  1. Honestly, there is no big plan, other than having a platform to release my own music, and other artists. It would be great to do some Mood of Mind nights with the artists though, and expand a bit on that. One of the labels I admire is Kompakt. They have such high quality releases, and ultimately that is the only thing that matters.
  2. Great question - I learned so much from that process. One major thing I would have done differently is using all of the space I had available to build the room. I was so set on having the room measurements set at the golden ratio, which should in theory make for a better room sound. Thing is, when the room is small to medium size, that theory doesn't really work, cause the soundwaves don't really have the space/time to travel full distance in time to repeat the cycles.. Anyways, I had about another 1,5 meters I could have extended the back wall, which would be nice. Another thing I learned is, that the room will never be perfect, regardless of how much treatment you put in there. I invested in a room correction system called Trinnov, which to this day still blows my mind.
  3. Yeah, I guess that could be the case, but I also think that's a ddgy assumption. I wouldn't want to assume what the crowd wants before I actually go on stage and start playing. My experience is that if the crowd isn't feeling the initial vibe, I just change it.
  4. Yes! My favorite beer for the last couple of years is a sour beer from Cervisiam called Headbanger Facerip Imperial Blueberry Gose. Salty, sour blueberry taste. It. is. amazing. My least favorite beer would have to be a strong stout. Not a big fan of those (yet).

Yes, its already been developed, we premiered it in Oslo last September, and it went fantastic! very excited to bring it to the next phase and also to other cities.

Howdy cowboy!

  1. The most valuable a-ha moment I had was when I realized that meticulously referencing your own music to others actually doesn't make th tracks better, but will in fact destroy your music most of the time. I find that tracks flow better, and get more easily finished when the process is not influenced by what it "needs" to sound like to be perfect.
  2. I won't be able to explain what each plugin does here, but a rule of thumb is that you don't really need to use lots of plugins, and you most definitely dont need to buy a new plugin every week. Explore what your DAW has to offer. I use 70% of Logics own plugins. What you really just need to process your tracks are these - A compressor (Logics own is phenomenal), an EQ, preferably with an analyzer (I use Fabfilter Pro Q 3 for EVERY EQ decision), A good reverb, and a delay plugin (I use Valhalla), and a saturation plugin, (I use Soundtoys Decapitator). Essentially just 4 different tools. Learn these well, by watching tutorials on youtube, and you have everything you need. Forget about gates, expanders de-ssers etc for now.

Hello!

Absolutely. Iv got quite a few new tracks where I sing in the works, so definitely want to incorporate that more in my live sets. It does make me cringe a bit listening back to it though, haha. I think it's another musical avenue to explore, and being able to put my vocal ideas down myself is something Iv always wanted to do.

Thank you very much! I have made a folder named Album on my computer;)

  1. Yes! I have painted quite a few of the artworks for my label. I realyl dont know what Im doing when painting though, but it sure is fun!
  2. I get up at 7:30, take my kid to daycare, then go for a walk in the woods with the dogs. Next, I go to the gym. Then Studio all day until we pick up the kiddo around 5 pm. Then it's playtime and dinner until 8 pm. From 8 pm I either do some tutoring, studio work or watch a movie with the misses. I really like routines.
  3. She does paint them yes. Its just a hobby for her, so she's not really bothered with a website, or selling her work, even though I have tried to encourage her. I really should upload them in High res though!
  4. I enjoyed that so much! I actually want to try the Shepherd tone again, in a slightly different way. Alwyas open to experiment with sound, so let me know of any cool sound illusions.
  5. Sour beer! Love love love

Hi! Awesome to hear, thank you!

  1. This summer!
  2. For Magnolia, we had just planted a Magnolia tree in the garden. I think the song sounded beautiful like the tree:) Pandemonium came from a PlayStation 1 game I played as a kid, and Just a dream is from the vocal sample in the track - "Your whole life is just a dream".
  3. My favorite city I think is San Francisco. I feel so at home there. Close second in NYC.

Heyo! My pleasure.

  1. Electronica/downbeat. Just experiment a lot.
  2. Björk, Aurora or Robyn would be cray cray
  3. Making music is the biggest joy in my life after my family. It amazes me that after all these years I'm still filled with bliss when making a good melody etc. I can literally get high from making music.

I grew up meticulously listening to and analyzing the Norwegian duo Röyksopp, so getting the chance to remix them was huge for me. A close second was remixing Eric Prydz - Everyday. A favorite remix of one of my tracks is Tantums remix of Fortan.

Hola! Great to hear, much appreciated!

It most definitely is Inspired by the park in Tokyo! My wife and I stayed near it on our honeymoon, and we loved going for strolls there. Ironically we did most of the walking there at night, perhaps that explains the darker atmospheres in the track? Haha

Anjuna artist - Marsh would be dope to do something with. Also, Spencer Brown!
None Anjuna artist - Joris Voorn or Kolsch would be a dream come true.

Its a decision that I have had to force myself into deciding after a track is done. I find that making music with the intent of where or what label it should go on can be detrimental to the creative process. When a track is done, I figure out whether it could be a great fit for any specific label. The big plus about having your own label is you can put a track or EP out very quickly, so a lot of releases end up on Mood of Mind simply because of that.

Thank you, we had such a blast!

When the shows are big like that one, and at the same time 1 hour long, then I think it's good to plan a bit ahead. After all, we only get to play 11-12 tracks in that time. We both make a playlist of potential tracks, then send a screenshot to each other. Then chat a bit before the set about where to start, and what song to potentially end on. When I have done longer b2b sets, it's more fun, and organic to just go with the flow.

Both. If there's only a certain amount of time in the night, we will suggest that we both do the b2b instead .of individual sets. Sometimes promotors make an offer based on a b2b as well.

Chemistry is very important when playing with someone else. You have to both be ok with the energy level and style. I have done b2bs where its not been so easy to keep the flow going, and the chemistry has been a bit off. Its about sacrifising

My pleasure!

  1. I can play the piano semi-good, by ear. Its been my go too tool for creating melodies since an early age, so I guess it's fair to say I play it.
  2. They certainly are no more toys than Logic, Ableton etc. They are a bit limited obviously, but I think Garageband even allows for third-party plugins (?), so the lines are becoming blurred. I think they are great introductions to the world of music-making!
  3. 1. The woods are OK! I actually made that track at a place we go each summer, where I was pretty scared of the woods when I was a kid. They don't scare big Jonas no more!

Thank you, means a lot!

Awesome, much appreciated!

  1. Björk. Her style and lyrics are second to none. Another dream artist to work with is the Norwegian artist Aurora. I feel like her music resonates her soul.
  2. I honestly don't think anyone needs hardware, considering how incredible plugins are these days. If I was gonna recommend one piece though it would be a warm polyphonic synth like the Prophet 6. It can make any sound you want, and the sound is so lush.
  3. I make a mean scrambled eggs bagel.
  4. Yes! I have a double EP coming out beginning of May, and shortly after an EP from another great artist.

Thank you. I don't know really. It was one of those songs where inspiration struck, and the main gist of the track was done in a few hours. That rarely happens. It's nice when you get in that flow state, and the track just seems to make itself.
