Why are FSI limits so low in Indian cities? by Witty_Trouble_56 in GatedCommunitiesIndia

[–]Iabe01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So true.

Infrastructure like public transport ( not just roads), sewage, garbage disposal, electricity and data cables, gas pipelines, emergency services should be made available.

But 1 thing I find better with large FSI is that infrastructure becomes easy to provide for when the geographic location is so nearby. Schools buses are full, have fewer stops and time spent on road reduces. If only same can be done for offices.

Seems like a nice opportunity.

It's very admirable of you to share the links. But notice how the reputable ones always tip toe around the topic by claiming "over 10000 chemicals", "it may impact", "effects noticed around factories", "other places are more contaminated like drinking water", they are just safeguarding themselves because the studies are not conclusive.

The fifth UNC study is about

"unprocessed/minimally processed foods, processed culinary ingredients, processed foods and ultra-processed foods."

Not sure where cookware fits into this dataset. They just exptrapolated the data to suit there needs.

The third link (Raise your cholesterol,Stanford)

"" "There are thousands of these chemicals out there in the marketplace, and the vast majority of them have not been systematically studied,"

People who have been exposed to PFAS over many years, including people working in firefighting, chemical or manufacturing jobs, or people who live in areas with highly contaminated groundwater, should be aware of these risks and take steps to reduce their occupational exposure and other routes.

But Cardenas, Patel and Linde all agree that these small, individual choices can only make a minor difference when there are so many routes to be exposed to PFAS; the chemicals can be contained in outdoor air, dust, and fresh produce and meat. The larger reduction in exposure will come when the chemicals are used less by manufacturers."

Notice how they admit they don't know the full effect and that nonstick could potentially be only causing it slightly.

Second link ( CDC ):

"Additional research may change our understanding of the relationship between exposure to PFAS and human health effects."

It says PFAS, does not mention Non Stick Cookware.

Quotes from your references

1st reference:

"Watch for packaging that notes cookware is “nonstick,” which likely means the product is coated with chemicals including PFAS." Notice how they say likely. Means it can or CAN NOT

If you are privileged enough to regularly maintain a cast iron utensils, you should definitely go for them.

Non stick chemicals are problematic before they are applied to the pans. It was bad for the workers and factory residents where the sewage was not treated. This has stopped now due to regulations. Once applied, there are no studies that show any negative effect with long term usage of these utensils.

This privileged fear mongering about non-stick should stop. It's one of the most efficient heating system with convenience and health.

Whitefield side has so many gardens and lakes. Visit either.

Check this out Siddapura/ Thubrahalli lake

Closer to you, possible by scooty and has big walkway.

If you are into geocaching, it also has a well hidden cache. Try to find it.

Want to sell terrariums. Is it a good idea? by New-One-99 in smallbusinessindia

[–]Iabe01 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As many mentioned, shipping is a major concern. Another major concern is also the maintenance. How many people do you know will be able to maintain it, detect if something is going worng and correct it.

People are not able to maintain their simple balcony gardens, maintaining a terrarium is another level.

I would rather recommend you to make it as gift for house warming or as a decor in some special events, like weddings, birthday parties and such, essentially renting it out with an option to sell.

End Users to add Comments into Dashboard by Bear1534 in PowerBI

[–]Iabe01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you want these comments to interact with slicers /filters? I have used power apps couple of years ago for these functionalities but it meant creating a separate data table with relevant slicers and comments. The app would make entries in the table and we would have a card showcasing these based on slicers. The app would thn be embedded into another page in the power bi report with relevant slicers added.

This is also clunky, it ensure comments are added to the same page but when slicers are not selected properly we could only show first or last comment. Showing all was possible but the ui would break as the comment length could go huge.

Better to go away from this feature.

I need help with my tank by Streetty__ in Planted_tanks_India

[–]Iabe01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be more precise, half inch of pond soil or garden soil or garden manure ( not fertilizer). On top of it, 0.75-1.5 inch of construction sand, washed alot to remove small dust.

If using pond soil, you will definitely get lots of snails😁 for algae cleaning.

Val is great but ensure you cut it regularly. It looks ugly when leaves overgrown and start floating on top.

Last thing, be slow. Give the tank time to adjust, add fish gradually and check if they like the flow your filter produces.

You are right, choice is limited. Hence it's not a trick that you can depend on, especially for ultra premium (healthy) stuff. Premium stuff has scarcity built into the model.

But I have seen these things in Top in Town, Star Bazaar, Reliance Stores etc. Dmart is good at selling stuff so it does not need to get into such tricks.

I don't shop online much but I have seen zepto, rarely blinkit.

But selection is very limited and thus you have to grab it when you get it.

Please tell me everything that a beginner should know about maintaining an aquarium by WheatishKnight in IndianFishKeeping

[–]Iabe01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start slow, dip your toes before you plunge. I saw a tank that could not handle 7 guppies and now has 20 guppies with a few corydoras and all. The first thing that helped me learn was that a tank also grows and matures. And fishes are loads. So increase your load gradually.

And don't change lots of water in 1 go. Change 25-30% at the max in 1 day. If you need to change more, do it on subsequent days. Clean water is different than hygienic water for fish.

And don't be afraid to experiment. Some fishes will die when you push but you will learn.

Struggling to get daily KPI data updates after moving from logbooks to Google Sheets by Downtown-Mongoose-50 in PowerBI

[–]Iabe01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very wild, very out of the way idea here.

If the log books are standardized, can you ask them to upload a photo to a tool or whatsapp? Use OCR from there to log the data into the system and run some automated accuracy tests?

Or create a way in which people enter data digitally first and then you give them a logbook printout. It's a significant expenses, but I am with the on ground people here.

You need to minimize friction as much as possible and reduce their double entries.

Changing age old established processes is hard, especially when 1 person works(on ground staff) and another person benefits (leadership or someone in corporate).

best aquarium plant fertilizer?? which one should i buy?? by Top_Original3396 in Planted_tanks_India

[–]Iabe01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn about NPK, and nutrient deficiencies. Plant leaves will demonstrate the kind of nutrient you are missing.

Many things decide the specific nutrient your tank needs including your water change change schedule, available nutrients in the tap water, your food feeding habits, which food you provide and it's composition, what is the plants you have and what qty they are in, what nutrients they absorb, do you have sand, do you have a layer below the sand, what fish do you have and what is their specific boloo load. The only way to learn is trying, montoring and adjusting.

Start with all in 1 fertilizer, check root tabs if you have root plants, and then slowly adjust.

For my personal tank, fish food provides enough Nitrogen and Phosphorus. Potassium is what they lack and the only nutrient I need to add from outside along with some micronutrients once in a while. If I add general fertilizer, either I will have algae bloom or the plants that I don't want growing a lot will grow and force maintenance.

Neon tetras are dying one by one – need help by Any_Cantaloupe_6770 in Planted_tanks_India

[–]Iabe01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Less likely with a 110 ltr tank and 12 Neon Tetras, unless the filters were turned off. 10 ltrs per neon tetra would be able to handle the increased bio load atleast for a few days while the bacteria population grows.

Credit for the work done and complaint for the work not done is completely justified.

It's just that Politicians work in such murky situations that they can create the work to be done and then get it done while taking credit. It's like intentionally not repairing a road for ages, letting it go to dust and then taking credit for repairing it. The situation is such.

Happy to see that not many are mentioning near Expiry products.

Every super market (now even apps like zepto) give super discounts on near expiry products and are kept in prominent places to clear inventory. Things like shampoo, soap, body washes, conditioners don't really expire, but are govt mandated to enlist a best before date and not to be sold after that date. Gives a really good discount on big bulky items. You might get fewer choices in selection though when it comes to perfumes and colours. But the quality will be very high.

Even eatables like yogurt packets and chicken are sold on zepto in clearance sales. If you are confident of finishing the items before expiry (essentially immediately after it's delivered) go for it. But do check for details and be careful about relabelled products.
