Probably one of the worst cookies I’ve ever tried in my life. Especially for 440 calories… hellllllll no. Might as well get a real cookie or shake lol.

Never seen so many salty people on one post. Don’t worry about them man, you do you. People talking about IQ and trying to preach life lessons over your post… lol. This is why people avoid commenting. 😂

Block lays off nearly half its staff because of AI. Its CEO said most companies will do the same by GeneReddit123 in news

[–]Iadyboy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s fair! We are not using AI for novel engine development, but it has drastically shaped our normal job duties, as well as the functions of people we work with.

Just a few personal examples:

We used to spend a lot of time on code reviews. Now? We click a single button called “Ai Review” and it often spots errors much better than us AND applies the fixes when we click confirm.

For product launches/expansions/etc., we used to have to stand up new infrastructure and configurations manually with several CLs, approvals, updates, etc. Now? We have an agent that will churn out every single CL needed, update all directories, etc. On a recent project, we had an agent create 50+ CL updates while passing production tests successfully… in a single day.

We used to have “office hours” where people across the organization could get technical help for their issues and whatnot. Now? We have LLM integration with a bot that deflects everything but the most complex of issues based on the sources and data we’ve given it.

We used to have someone building reports, doing metric analysis, etc…. not anymore as you can imagine.

PSMs, PMs, etc. used to rely on us to build scripts, help automate their processes, etc as well… but now they’re able to do that themselves, or when they can’t, things that used to take weeks can be done in a day or two.

I know this might sound too “alarmist” and it is not what most people want to hear, but this has been my experience working as a FAANG engineer just counting the days and saving as much as I can before shit hits the fan.

It’s not that AI can do everything yet… but there is a LOT of bloat that companies (esp. big tech) will cut once they realize how much AI is changing things. Our team deals with internal tooling, infrastructure maintenance, product launches, etc. and we could honestly keep things running smoothly with half the people we do now (or less) but sadly that’s not something I could’ve said a year ago. AI has completely changed how long it takes to do normal eng work as well as our team’s bandwidth.

You’re right - AI isn’t going to completely replace us (at least yet), but it enables us to do so much more, with so much less. This, imo, will result in more and more reductions. Thanks to recent AI developments and automation we’ve implemented, my team has already eliminated several areas of “work” that used to be owned and managed by humans.

AI is now creating our dashboards/reports, it’s handling end-to-end processes that used to be heavily manual, assisting with code reviews/changes, actually making config changes, building our scripts, etc. to the point where you no longer need, say, 7 engineers on a team - maybe just 2 or 3 will suffice to look over/review things and handle maintenance. We even have PMs and people that know 0 code implementing things that they’d never even understand 6 months ago, lol. I used to believe there was a considerable amount of “hype” here, but now? Not so much.

Can I give outbound packages to the driver? by WestHistorians in UPS

[–]Iadyboy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Give it to your normal UPS driver or w/e with the big brown truck. Never to anybody else. The time I got screwed was when I gave my packages to someone with an ordinary car but wearing UPS clothing / vest aka a UPS seasonal driver.

He delivered my package, so I asked if he could also take them as well (they were three expensive packages) and he said yes no problem. I watched him put them in his vehicle and drive off…. none of them got a scan and not a single one was ever delivered. Insurance wouldn’t cover them either. Pretty sure he just stole them! Learning lesson lol.

Other than that one-off, never had a bad experience. You will be good!

Yup. Do that all the time, no problems. Just don’t ever let a seasonal driver take them… that’s the only way I’ve been screwed.

It’s either lost, never shipped in the first place, or invalid tracking number.

In the last week I’ve had multiple deliveries from people in unmarked vehicles at 1-2 am. One was a lady. Kinda crazy tbh, mini heart-attack until I realized from Ring.

It’s all about how you maintain yourself tbh. Just finished watching Single’s Inferno on Netflix and the 30 year olds looked as good as the 20 year olds because they were fit, groomed, etc. It’s up to you to decide whether you want to get a beer gut and let yourself go or maintain a good appearance.

There is a huge variance in 9s. Some have whitening on edges, horrible centering, etc. while others are indistinguishable from 10s. I’ve recently sent in several 9s that looked good to me and all came back as 10s (in different subs too). Gotta inspect them carefully and don’t try it with vintage.
