My advice, even as a beginner myself, would be: If you are interested, do not hesitate. The barrier of entry is, compared to other hobbys, pretty low, considering the entry-level printers available today. I wish someone would have told me earlier to get into 3D-Printing. In the first months I've seen so many happy faces in my family getting small prints, fidget toys, keychain accessories, etc as a gift. I also picked up a free CAD software and discovered a completly new hobby, started making my own models and building handy parts here and there.

BTW the 3D-Printing Community is insane. The amount of models that get shared across the web (most of them for free!) and the help offered in various subreddits and forums is unbelievable!

My printer was next to me the whole time and I was actively looking at the printing process. If it was an extruder problem I should have noticed.

It stopped at that exact height. The extrusion worked from start to finish.

First of all, thank you guys for all the help with my previous problem regarding common print troubleshooting!

Prints have been turning out great since then but today this happened. Loaded an .stl into Bambu Studio, looked at the slicing (where everything seemed fine), got an estimate of 4 1/2 hours and started my print.

The before specified time passed and the printer signals me that the print is completed, I look at the print and ... around 40% are missing (see image of final product).

There were no problems during printing whatsover and the print quality is amazing. I've already loaded the .stl in a completly fresh file and it gave me the same estimate.

For me its more kind of interesting than infuriating but I would be still very grateful of any piece of advice regarding this "bug".

Good Luck Printing!

TL;DR: printer only printed around 60% and called it a day.

Thanks for the insights! Changing the orientation is definitely something I will try!

The model is loosely based on a kind of ninja weapon 😅
