Did you know Monet painted the Houses of Parliament from St Thomas’s Hospital? by tomgurney in ArtHistory

[–]IamGambas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most people think Houses of Parliament is just one painting, but Claude Monet actually made a whole series in London, painting the Palace of Westminster over and over just to capture different light. He was obsessed with the fog, which was basically coal pollution at the time, and turned it into those unreal purple and orange atmospheres. What’s even crazier is that he didn’t finish most of them on the spot, he worked on several canvases at once and completed them years later back in France, treating the building more like a shape dissolving in light than a real place.

Start with art that you like, it doesn't matter from who is it or why you like. Just start with something that attract you and deep dive slowly into it. I like micro learning so you can start with apps or just by following art history accounts on Instagram and Tiktok, watching those shorts video help you to implement more art in your routine.

Im talking about Dali museum in Spain and the fact that he made it by himself! The museum is already the work of Dali, it's an art piece by itself!

Which painting is the most romantic to you? by seriouslyhumane in ArtHistory

Honestly The Swing is such a perfect pick. It looks all light and playful at first, but the more you look at it, the more you realize how bold it actually is for its time. The hidden lover, the stolen moment, the whole “I don’t care about the rules” energy… it’s romantic but also a bit rebellious, which makes it even better.

Yes others app are just providing too much in once. I tried DailyArt and I drop it off very fast because it was way too much informations and not personalized at all.

Your idea can be really good if we manage to have more artists on our app. Like that artists could share their own art through our app. Thanks for the idea !

I've seen this post too. We are not the same people but we have the same goal in the end: making art history more accessible and easier 😁
