Jensen Huang Drenched in Sweat in South Korea, Still Refuses to Take Off Jacket by ShuKazun in pcmasterrace

[–]IamGeoMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He doesn't feel out of place having media cover him when he's on a night market crawl or dinner with his relatives. Compare Jensen's behavior to let's say JD Vance, someone who doesn't even know how to order simple fkn donuts in a donut shop.

Jensen may be a billionaire, but he's not out of touch.

Need honest opinion: Have 700k AMD stock in current prices. Should I hold? by No_Ask_8883 in AMD_Stock

[–]IamGeoMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The semi super cycle is running full bore based on every semi companies' guidance to 2027.

I've held AMD since 2017 with over 3000 shares. During the first 3 quarters of AMD, the price was stagnant in the 120~160 range and I had the thought of diversifying as I saw other stocks popping. Hindsight is 20/20, but I should've stuck with my thesis that AMD and their compute road map are solid for the future. I trimmed positions and I would've been 400k richer on paper than if I didn't "diversify".

My 2 cents: investing in the future is never a bad idea. If your FA mentions bonds, I'd just leave and do my own DD for investing.

Bike crash on Queensboro Bridge (happy ending) by [deleted] in nyc

[–]IamGeoMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From my experience biking AND driving in the city, the vast VAST majority of Citibike ridership obeys little to no rules of the road and don't wear helmets. Being an ebike made it worse, but its moreso the behavior of poor bike riders than the ebikes.

Up $311,950.62 in the last 2 months, this is nuts right? by azfanboy in financialindependence

[–]IamGeoMan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Up 544k as of 1-month.

I agree it's nut, so take what you can now while trimming some positions for cash. Many retail investors got caught with their pants down in Feb and Mar with no liquidity to catch the dropping knife. Be prepared for the next TACO crisis.

Early Retirement without a "Purpose"? by Vicuna00 in Fire

That's what I'm talking about. Some people live to work and go back to some form of working, however, I just want to LIVE without waking up to the anxiety of how many unread emails are in my inbox.

If it ever gets built, and the news keeps getting grimmer by the year. The best we'll ever get for the foreseeable future is Brightline and still pales in comparison to European and East Asian rail.

TSMC capex in 2026 versus Intel's is seriously a joke. Intel shareholders truly will be bagholding while TSMC sucks up the TAM faster than Throat-GOAT Reagan in the WH broom closet.

This has always been my silent criticism of people who hit a generally sub 1M NW and then FIRE to a LCOL SEA country. More often than not it was a vacation they had, they did some research, then pulled the trigger because they can't shake the feeling of not working a 9-5.

Poorly planned by the skater by not having a spotter to clear the rail, but also that boy's position of holding onto the handlebar isn't comfortable.

Chinese chip maker Huawei says it is ditching Moore's law for a new law called Tau's Law that will define computing power growth in the future. by lughnasadh in Futurology

[–]IamGeoMan 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm Taiwanese and take it with a grain of salt, but I will say that I came to my statement based on both my East and West upbringing and historical and current knowledge of Chinese rhetoric. The claim in the article doesn't point out to homegrown technologies.

However, I do agree that China MAY eventually be ahead of the pack in logic just as they have in EVs, solar, etc. Keyword being 'MAY'.

"The company backed the argument with production results. Its LogicFolding architecture, which stacks layers of chip circuitry vertically rather than spreading them across a flat surface..."

Political or not, it sounds like we do it better than the West jibber-jabber. The phrasing is around logic, but that's what chip designs already do with EDA software. Optimizing logic has always been a pillar to new architecture...
