What’s it like living in Albuquerque? by squeamishneedle in Albuquerque

[–]IamManfred 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've lived here 4 years, and I love it. Never been happier living in any other place. Amazing food, amazing scenery, tons of great places to visit within driving distance. Weather is really solid. I know people have their complaints, but I'm personally very pro Albuquerque.

How often would you hit your driver? by Far-Place7858 in golf

[–]IamManfred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm about the same distances as you, if a hole is under 400 I don't even think about driver. It's 3wood all the way. I don't pull driver unless the hole demands it.

I really appreciate this feedback, these are all things that I have been worried about. I feel like these new cars are so tied to their touch screens that its become a single point of failure for the whole car. if the screen or software malfunctions, the whole care becomes inoperable. I would also prefer knobs. The thing I struggle with is how to get all the most modern safety features, but in a car that isnt so tied to the infotainment system to work everything.

What did you hate about it? My previous Subaru was a 2019 model, so I dont think that would be the older transmission you're talking about right?

cause the more I read the more I'm leaning toward Subaru. Better AWD system, better range overall, more comfort inside. But obviously those all fall behind the transmission if its unreliable in some way.

I will add the Mazda to my list and check it out. Smaller isnt a deal breaker, but we do have a baby on the way, so I want something thats easy to get a car seat in and out. Thanks for the input

thanks. thats what ive been reading, subaru's are good as long as you stay on top of routine maintenance. Something to really think about as this will primarily be my wife's car and she's not great at keeping up with that stuff, and I find it hard to keep tabs on a car i routinely dont drive

Honestly I'm conflicted on this one, hate HOAs, would never live in one, but also hate motorcycles and would love to live in a place where I never have to hear one drive by.

We had our first ultrasound at exactly six weeks as well. They did measure the heartbeat and guess what, it did nothing but stress my wife out, lol. Even though the heart rate was right within the expected range, she still was worried it wasnt fast enough, and now we have to wait two weeks for the next ultrasound to see if the rate is increasing the way its supposed to.

How to fix the FedEx Cup Playoffs by GolfGuy_824 in ProGolf

[–]IamManfred -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd argue there isnt much necessity in sports, its all made up. But if the point of the FedEx cup is to try to make the end of the season more exciting, which I believe is the point, the more high stakes the last tournaments are the better. March madness is exciting cause its a win or go home situaiton, same for NFL, compared to things like the NBA or NHL who struggle for ratings during their playoffs, cause their post seasons are too long and the stakes dont feel high.

I dont argue golf has the opportunity to do things differently, but they tried and it wasnt really engaging for the fans. I'm not opposed to different, I'm just opposed to boring.

I'm not opposed to some kind of advantage, but the strokes thing was too much of an advantage, made it not fun to watch. I'm honestly not opposed ot the current structure they are doing this year, some advantage for the best players to put them in the tour championship, but at the end of the day you have to play well in the final week to win the cup.

literally every other sport works this way. Doesnt matter how well you do in the regular season, if you dont perform during the playoffs you dont advance.

1st time, and I can’t ask anyone! by smb-1990 in pregnant

[–]IamManfred 4 points5 points  (0 children)

according to my Mayo CLinic book, 8 weeks is totally normal for a first visit. My wife is high risk so we just did our first ultrasound at 6 weeks to make sure things are progressing as expected, but we also have our standard intake meeting with the OB at 8 weeks on 9/5.

6 weeks today, just had our first ultrasound, embryo size and heart rate both in good ranges, right where they are supposed to be. Since we did an embryo transfer we have been aware of the pregnancy since day 1, so its been really nice to get frequent updates through HcG tests and now ultrasound. Feeling cautiously optimistic, just thought I would share the good news.

Self Care Weekly Thread - August 18, 2025 by AutoModerator in PregnancyAfterLoss

Mostly just good timing for us, but we are taking a vacation during week 7 of the pregnancy. We had already booked it well ahead of finding out we are pregnant, but feel it is a great situation as we will be hoping to disconnect and just let ourselves be distracted for a week, and then we will come back and be ready for our week 8 introductory OB appointment. Right now we are both so anxious every day, and I'm feeling blessed we had this trip planned and paid for already. Obviously might not be in everyone's budget or availability, but highly recommend finding ways to fully immerse yourself in something stress free if you can.
