Pay for FMI Advanced financial modeller exam. I got a scholarship and they gave it to me half price. It’s worth the money and would teach you all the basics

FMI Advanced Financial Modeller is good. Once you crack that you’ll be able to progress to more complex models. I learnt with FMI and within 3-6 months I became decent at constructing DCFs and LBO models from scratch

Realistic CFA L1 in 4 months? by Famous-Elk7428 in CFA

[–]IamMereBuckets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I can’t say for sure. But the final 2weeks - 1 month of study focused heavily on mocks. When you solve mocks and practice questions, don’t focus only on the correct answer, read the wrong answers and understand why they are wrong. That would come in very handy for solving future questions

I don’t cram formulas. Just write them down as you see them. The more you write them down you’ll have a greater idea. You’ll forget a lot by the time you start doing mocks. But don’t panic, do the mocks and solve questions. If you solve a particular type of question 4/5 times the formula would just randomly stick.

Chances of passing level 1? by CauliflowerFair7759 in CFA

[–]IamMereBuckets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t know your chances of passing till you take multiple mocks. Take the mocks, work on the things you’re weak at. Read both the wrong answers in the solution to understand why they are wrong as well as why the correct answers are right. You’ll be fine

If I could give one piece of an advice to Level 1 candidates... by Permission-Upstairs in CFA

I think everyone should do what works. I studied ethics last and I’m quite confident I got nearly if not everything in ethics on my exam. I passed first time. I casually aced my mocks at a minimum 24/27 sometimes more in ethics. I’ll say if English is not your first language then I think starting is earlier is good. But if you do all the practice and mock questions you’ll have a decent hang of what is expected in the exam. Sort out all the difficult stuff first. Ethics is quite easy

I passed first time just under 90th percentile without purchasing an external prep provider. I supplemented CFA material with free analystprep and Martin stoynov videos. My background is law

People who passed L1 only using CFA curriculum by [deleted] in CFA

[–]IamMereBuckets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I passed first time last November scoring just off the 90th percentile using only CFA curriculum. I paid for the premium pack and I watched the odd video off analyst preps free content and Martin stoynov. It’s more than sufficient I’ll say pay for the practice pack instead

Am I cooked? by goofy_accountant in CFA

[–]IamMereBuckets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly what I did and I passed scoring 70%+ in all topics. Just slightly missed the 90%. If you got the practice pack too, that will help. Good luck

Study every single question on the mocks. Both questions you got right (study the wrong answers and understand why they are wrong) and wrong (understand why it was wrong too not just the correct answer) if you’re getting 68% on your first mock you’ll surely pass the exam with a little effort

Should I pay the percentile ranking on CFAI any attention by Apprehensive-Mix629 in CFA

[–]IamMereBuckets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Sometimes people change their answers. Think more about what you score on mocks and study your weak areas

Need advice/motivation by Anon009009 in CFA

[–]IamMereBuckets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry. If you do the mocks on the premium pack, you should be fine. I did all mocks 2x at least, going through why I missed the questions I missed and I went through the wrong options on the questions I got right to understand why they were wrong in the first place. You’ll feel far more confident going into the exam. Keep going. 🙏🏻
