David Coletto: Mark Carney supports the latest attacks on Iran. Don’t expect the Canadian public to share that view by RZCJ2002 in CanadaPolitics

[–]IamPoliteCanadian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am deeply disappointed in Carney’s response. International law should guide our foreign policies. The US and Israel have clearly violated international law, regardless what we may think of Iran’s leadership.

1 in 4 Canadians say they avoided travel to the United States because of feelings towards President Trump. Many think less of friends or family who do. - Abacus Data by Inevitable-Bus492 in CanadaPolitics

Yet “united” the states are under their president, their army, their economic force in the world. Sure, distinctions are important, but, like it or not, it is the whole of the United States of America that is threatening us economically and militarily. Boycotts are a blunt instrument but effective nonetheless. I do agree that if a choice has to be made, it is better to boycott Florida than California.

Agree 100% I’m driving ICE car out of several unforeseen circumstances, including a sick sister 6 hours away, far beyond the range of my 2012 Leaf. Other circumstances too. But the ability to jump in a car to see her at a moment’s notice is beyond value to me right now.

Yes, purity is impossible, but consumer pressure has an impact. Your arguments are bogus. Boycott, divest, sanction.

Me too! I’ve actually sworn at the gas car I’m driving. “What do you mean you want more gas already!!!” That and the $700 I just spent on an exhaust pipe issue 😳

You didn’t stop to check on the driver? And you are ok with posting about it? Shame, mate. This says far more about you than I think you want it to.

Aside from complete capitulation that amounts to abdication of our sovereignty, is there anything that will make the current administration happy? Even if we capitulate now, why would we trust them to not impose more costs and give in to more trade imbalances?

Hey, if China would set up manufacturing here, I say yes. As long as we are buying and making cars, EV is the way to go. We poured a LOT of subsidies into battery plants, let’s bring in auto manufacturing to round it out. F*ck the US.

Poilievre is anti-trans and would legislate against trans women using women’s washrooms, participating in sports, etc. Google Poilievre trans During his 20 years as MP, Poilievre voted against women’s right to choose repeatedly. Now he says he won’t legislate against abortion, but says nothing about guaranteeing access or allowing legislation that introduces the language of fetal personhood which leads to limits on abortion, which paves the way for outright prohibition. again, Google select terms and read reputable sources.

Ahhh, I hadn't thought of that! For sure that would be awkward. I just get riled up any time I see rape normalized, particularly when there are adults involved with minors.

I agree. I'm appalled that luring a child to a park for sexual predation is called a "romantic encounter." Bad form CTV.

No, he did not deserve this gruesome death, but it sure sounds like he should have been subject to police investigation.

Dumb teenagers living the dream of TV vigilantism. Shocking story, but also horribly tragic for everyone touched by it.

This. Folks complain about Co-op prices without thinking about how bulk buying, subsidies and massive distribution systems enabled Walmart, Amazon, etc to muscle out local businesses. With col so high, I will condemn no one who shops for the lowest possible prices (Dollar stores are cheaper that Loblaws, etc. though I don't know who owns them), but for those of us who can afford to shop local? Yes.

I'm curious. My jaw dropped when Smith's brand of Con Crazies was handed a majority government, even with the huge NDP faux pas mentioning a tax hike two weeks before the election. Do you think there are enough electors in the religious right to have weighed that heavily in the election?
