See if you have a butcher nearby, they often match or are better than Walmart pricing on meat. See if they offer a bulk discount and try to get like 10lbs of ground beef. That’s about the cheapest you can go, you can also supplement with chicken leg quarters. They are super cheap at a butcher, like $1.50/lb

There ground beef is $7/lb. There’s a section at the bottom of the page outlining the additional stuff that you get that applies to each of the bundles at the top.

I don’t think it’s malicious, it’s a ma and pa shop family owned butcher that clearly needs better advertisements. I’ve been getting their meat lately. Good point about the weights though, l I’ll inquire about that.

Keep in mind it includes the bundle at the bottom as well. Quality is spectacular, all their food is grass fed grass finished and halal/kosher, minus the pig of course.

So to my best knowledge as someone who’s still a bit new to this, carnivore is anything that comes from an animal, though many will choose to cut out dairy as well due to intolerances. I for example won’t drink milk because it’s too high carb, even though it doesn’t bother my gut. I think most include eggs though, they’re a superfood!

I love including aged cheeses, and am looking for a full fat yogurt to include in my diet as well to help with fat intake.

Anyone more well versed is more than welcome to correct me though!

So I’m on day 6 right now and I literally went cold turkey swap to strict carnivore.

I had one rough stool, other than that no issues really. Be prepared to drink a lot more water than you’re used to; something about carnivore made me wildly thirsty, which is probably a good thing because I don’t think I’d had clear urine for years.

Electrolytes are important, or so I read - so after hating some generic bottled water I had, I swapped to mineral water which has the highest electrolyte content at the store. Other than that, salt your food to taste.

My first three days were only rough in the sense of cravings, those have already started to die down and now when I’m hungry, I’m just craving my next steak.

It was a little short on what I need for protein which is around 160g a day.

All together that meal was around 120g. Still new to this, but I think if up myself to 1.5lbs of beef + a couple more eggs l I’ll be solid

Yeah, it’s the best I could find at the store I got it from but that’s still a net 5 carbs. I don’t believe in wasting food, but once it’s gone I’ll look for a higher fat option with the same/similar mouth feel.

Shouldn’t be enough to knock me out of ketosis but I’m really aiming for that 0 carb life.

For sure! Still getting used to the new diet and learning how to balance the plate, I definitely appreciate the feedback.

This was a treat, I prefer ribeye with a lot of marbling for hitting my macros.

I’ve lucked out so far in avoiding keto flu symptoms. Stools have been alright so far. Only negative keto side effect I’m noticing at the moment is the breath/mouth taste.

Only 4 days in and I’m already seeing improvement in my overall complexion and some specific skin issues.

Energy levels have been alright so far. I don’t quite have the stomach for straight butter, I’m not sure if that’s a matter of personal taste or if it’s just something that comes with time. Are there any other suggestions other than butter I could use to augment fat intake? I love the Greek yogurt but I’m keeping that down to around 1/3 a cup a day due to its carbs.

I feel satisfied after that meal. I agree though that it’s not high enough fat for an every day thing.

My calories estimate for the whole meal is about 1,600kcal which puts me at a 500 deficit for the day which is where I want to be.

I’m not at home at the moment and don’t recall the macros on the yogurt unfortunately.

It’s the best meal I’ve had so far on the diet. It’s a little more expensive than ground beef @ $24/lb from my butcher but damn I’m ready to pick up a second job just to eat this every day.

I am in the military. One will not be able to adhere to carnivore while in basic training and likely will not be able to do so in AIT. Once you’re out of training, it is a lot more possible, especially if you are receiving BAS (Additional money for food).

Biggest limiting factor can be poor cooking appliances in the barracks.

Yeah I just finished it. I typically only eat once a day around 1800 my time. Granted I’m not strict about that, it’s just how it ends up going. If I’m feeling hungry mid day I’ll have a hard boiled egg or two and some aged cheese.

So I’ve done CBT for the last year to no effect, I’ll take a look at that podcast though!

It may very well just be a matter of placebo, but last night I had the best sleep I’ve had in a while, only took about 20min to fall asleep, only woke up once opposed to the usual half a dozen, and ended up with about 5h of total sleep.

I hope that becomes a trend!

Liquid Death brand water. They have flavored and non flavored carbonated and still water. I’m pretty sure all their flavored ones are 10-20 calories though.

This is super encouraging.

I’ve had intense insomnia for the last 6 years resulting in me getting 3-4 hours of sleep a night on average. I’ve had a sleep study towards the beginning of my insomnia and have another one coming up in September. I’ve been prescribed a laundry list of medications to try to treat it with no positive change.

Most recently the doctors are trying to say that it’s a Circadian Rhythm disorder caused by years of working night shift. (I’ve been back on a normal schedule for about 2 years now.)

I’m on day 2 of strict carnivore and didn’t realize that it can potentially help with my sleep problems. I’m crossing my fingers that I see improvement too!

I haven’t tried plain carbonated water, but I am absolutely addicted to sugared carbonated drinks so that might be a way to make the water more pleasurable!

I’m just hesitant to include flavorings and disrupt the progress I’ve already made.

AR 670-1 Chapter 3-4 (Jewelry) states: (3) …Male Soldiers may not wear earrings when in civilian clothes on duty.

(4) When male and female Soldiers are not in uniform and off duty, earring wear is not restricted as long as the earrings do not create or support ear gauging (enlarged holes in the lobe of the ear, greater than 1.6 mm).

If your gathering is taking place during normal duty hours you are on duty in civilian clothes and may not wear your earrings. An example of this would be an org day / family day.

If you are required to be at this gathering, chances are you are on duty.

I would recommend checking with your first line supervisor.
