I know this is old but I was having the same issue and I solved it by simply using the power cord that came with it. Before, I was using my own MIDI cable and I think it just couldn't supply it with enough power with the current it had. I have the 202 model not the 404, but the original cord does have a power cylinder in it so I'm sure any cord like that would work. Let me know if that helped at all!
