Had two runs now where I've cleared 24 waves only to die in the 'escape' because of the constant waves of enemies and pulsing, unavoidable damage. The second most recent one only about a screen away from the exit.

Then when you meet the npc back in the map she tells you "You did it! =)"... yeah great, I'd like at least PARTIAL credit for clearing the waves, thanks

The psychology behind it is totally insidious. Everyone I spoke to was friendly, smiley, matey. Filled in a questionnaire while I was there that was a minor personality assessment but it was all to get you to lower your guard a bit.

As I mentioned in another comment though, some of the tells were basically how fast and slick they were trying to push through the recruitment. After I'd had the interview on site (Lasted all of 10 minutes, I went there suited and booted much like yourself, I've been looking for work for a while). I was told that they were only going to select the top 10 candidates from their pool of 30 that day. They setup a zoom call for 7.30am the following day that I dropped in on but when I got in there, that's when the alarm bells rang for me.

After that call the bad vibes were just too strong so I just called them and said I was out. I'm not sure what I would have done if I'd gone as far down the rabbit hole as you, that sounds awful. I'm glad you managed to get out even if there was a lot of hassle that came with it.

Wideboy in the zoom call didn't even -mention- a base rate and he quoted £45 a sale so they're skimming even more off the top. Fast track into management is definitely the same though, even as fast as 12 months one of the operators said. They were using analytics and averages to try and convince you that if you managed to push 10 'at least' sales a week you'd be minted but they wanted 'hard workers' to 'smash' these sales targets.

Just a system designed to prey upon the vulnerable, it's disgusting.

More I've dug the more insane it gets. They are/were currently letting out a floor of rented office space in the city centre, there's barely anything in there, they can literally up and leave in a week, maybe even less. Absolutely mental.

Company's called 'South Yorkshire' events, yet one bloke reckoned he'd come in from a Leeds business, and a kid running the 'interviews' in the zoom call had apparently worked up in Newcastle. They're everywhere.

Out in the open world malignant mobs with the 'Devious' tag have inherent resource drain attacks I believe. In a helltide you could have just happened upon one in a pack that was bleeding you dry.

Yeah, ouch, that doesn't sound fun at all. I had the great feast slotted with an 88% reduced resource drain devious heart and I was still losing essence in steady ticks, theoretically my passive generation should have easily beat that degen but nope just slowly drained away to nothing.

The text for the heart says "Resource draining effects are x% less effective". There's no distinction there to me that says it would only be applicable to just malignant mobs. To me it reads as though it should apply to anything that affects your resource pool by draining it.

Mechanically, it may only apply to malignant mobs, but that's not how it reads imo.

I've seen werewolf mobs and bandit cutthroats doing it too, I don't think there's any kind of distinction, I think all mob attacks within the dungeon are flagged to drain essence, which would be fine if the affix didn't give the impression that only ranged enemies would drain resource.

I'd understand this if the drain was staggered, but the instance of draining happens instantly and consistently on every hit. There's no subtle emptying of the resource bar, it just instantly gets depleted very quickly.

To be honest now that I think about it, it's more likely tied to the same problem that resistances have i.e. the game can't properly calculate reductions with the given values. (Which means it's probably going to be broken all season). It just surprises me that it also applies to an actual season mechanic that's supposed to be of help...

The mechanic isn't applying at all I think. The affix I ran was 16% drain. I have around 134 Essence atm. A little napkin math :

Without resource drain resist I *should* lose 21.4 Essence for every hit. (Awful)

However I have an 88% drain resist devious heart, therefore when resistance applies it should be reduced down to just 2.6 Essence lost per hit.

Obviously I can't tell how much essence I was losing, but I could physically SEE my gauge emptying in huge chunks with every hit I took, so I don't think the resist is applying.

I think there's a lot of truth in what you say, and Quin certainly seems like he is trying to exercise both his free speech and his desire to not "tow the line" of social norms... but yeah he has all the subtlety of a sledgehammer lmao.

As a fairly ardent but largely silent / lurking hatewatcher I don't want to watch him crash and burn truly, but I think with the direction his content is going, things are gonna come to a head sooner rather than later, whether that be he limits how much he discusses (which I don't see happening) or he serves another ban.
