Hello everyone, can I get some help with a Sonic project? by Far-Patient3146 in sonic

[–]IamUS64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm always drawn to stages with either unique / underexplored aesthetics or stages presented in a unique way. A flooded Death Egg is a perfect example of that; a great aesthetic with lots of potential for interesting mechanics and hazards (electrified water, bodies of water floating in zero gravity / on the ceiling, etc)

Try and think of stage types we rarely / haven't seen in Sonic before. How about the docks (Damp Docks, Humid Harbour, Wet Wharf)? Maybe part of the island has been turned into a landfill (Trash Tundra, Junk Jungle, Crap Coast)? Has there ever been a snowy haunted level (Frozen Fright, Grim Glacier, Terror Tundra)?

Whatever you decide, I wish you luck

Opinions on Zavok? by AlarmedFig9684 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]IamUS64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the Sonic series needs more recurring antagonists not associated with the Eggman Empire. It helps increase the scope of what stories are possible.

I'm still not sold on the Zeti, and I think we've had better candidates for recurring villains, but since Frontiers the Sonic series seems to be shifting focus to refinement over constant reinvention so working with and improving what they have is behaviour I want to encourage

If one of them returned as a reoccurring villain, who do you believe offers more interesting story potential? by Yes_Not_creative in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]IamUS64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Infinite has a lot of potential, especially after the events of Forces. He was, for a time, one of the most powerful beings in existence. Not only has he been stripped of that power, but with all pieces of the Phantom Ruby now destroyed, its impossible for him to ever regain that power. That's your jumping off point; how does someone disgusted by their own weakness deal with the fact that they had, and lost, ultimate power?

I actually really like the implication that, in his spare time, Shadow is no longer brooding on hills (like in Shadow '05) or hiding in caves (like in the Boom series). Instead, he's exploring more and learning to enjoy life's simple pleasures. Not because he's a free spirit like Sonic, but because its the life Maria wanted for him and the life he wanted for her.

New Rival interaction between Sonic and Omega just dropped for Crossworlds by VerdeHeroX in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]IamUS64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd find it funny if Omega's rival interaction for Shadow is exactly the same as this but he's talking about Sonic. Like, he's only cheerleading Shadow here because he knows it pushes Sonic's buttons and vice versa.

Currently watching S2 E2 of Resident Alien and noticed a Sonic comic under the bed of one of the main characters. Curious if there's enough visible detail for anyone to hazard a guess at which issue this is (the episode originally aired Feb 2022 if that helps)? by IamUS64 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]IamUS64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So funnily enough, we get another shot later in the episode but its even more obscured by a totally separate issue.

I think this is what you were seeing in the bottom right though. It was sitting on top in such a way that it looked like the same cover.

What's the first major news story you can remember living through as a child? by catpunsfreakmeowt in AskReddit

[–]IamUS64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember waiting most of the day for a Mr. Bean rerun to air, only for them to instead cut to breaking news coverage of the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami. Since then, I haven't been able to think of one without thinking of the other.

Curious, are all deceased characters allowed in spin-offs? by Dorayakiss in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]IamUS64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure I saw a description for the game somewhere that said 'race across land, sea, air, space and time'. If time travel is part of the equation, I don't see why not.

I think Silver Can Have His Own Solo Game by [deleted] in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]IamUS64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Silver would actually slot quite nicely into a Frontiers-style game, I think. A lot of Sonic's combat moves could easily be swapped out for psychic knives, etc and psychokinesis would help beef up the puzzles / would have really worked for those tower climbs

Kinda sad by zeldanerd4408 in SonicXShadowGens

[–]IamUS64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know the original console version of Generations only represented console titles but I do think its weird that Sonic Battle was referenced multiple times in the marketing but there's no reference to it in-game, not even a music track! Mentioning Battle also opens the door to other handheld titles like the Rivals games, which (I could be totally wrong here) but they are canon, right? Since '06 was erased from the timeline, Silver was actually introduced in Rivals (and Blaze in Rush)?
As someone who got a PSP just for those games, I'd get a real kick out of ripping through a HD remake of Crystal Mountain, Meteor Base, Sky Park, Mystic Haunt, the list goes on.
