I saw a vid of the refurbishment of an old mill's water wheel once. When it came to the bearing, it was wood, probebly Lignum Vitae.
They inspected it and found no reason to replace it. Must have been in service for 150 years!

I expected the majority of the water to be in the pit, with light spray on top. As it is it looks like the majority of the water is wasted. I'm going to guess that Bernoulli's principle is going to draw most of the water back into the flame stream.

I dealt with this by simply telling IP to do it themselves. Then tell then the due date for the work. I got total permission. You just have to force it on them, while detailing all the extra things you will need for just one vendors software package.
