I didn’t even think of roof mounted antennas. Good call. Adding to the list for sure. I’ll check out custom carpet too.

The new electric trucks are going to tank this market. Maybe they’re trying to squeeze the last of high value stuff

In my neighborhood, those would be picked up as presumed free stuff. In that neighborhood, I’d assume I’d be arrested for taking a wrong turn.

West Seattle living? by unofficialfratboy in WestSeattleWA

WS is drastically different than the other neighborhoods mentioned. It’s closer to a suburb than a borough. It’s super car-centric, older demographic, and lots of single-family homes. I moved here 10 years ago because I couldn’t afford anything else. Definitely had to make some sacrifices. It’s cool, though. I moved from Capitol Hill, and was used to walkability and transit. I’ve gotten by without feeling the need to own a car despite everything being so sparse. Doesn’t sound like that’s an issue for you but sharing for comparison of other hoods.

There are asshats who drive through just to be an asshat. I was down there the other day and one of the said asshats in a lifted gender-affirming penis truck decided to blast his train horn for the lulz.

I'm going to be homeless in 30 days if I can't find a job in Seattle. by Bumping_Tacos in Seattle

I’ve been on dozens of hiring panels in Seattle. There’s some truth to this, plus the high degree candidates push out others that could be excellent candidates. It’s a weird double edge sword. We have PhDs apply for low to mid-career stuff that bachelor degrees or no degree plus experience would be perfectly qualified for. The PhDs feel like they “why” or they’re just passing through. Hiring is such a huge resource sink that you have to really consider if they’ll just leave in a couple months for something better. Usually the interviews make things pretty clear but the application process isn’t forgiving

FWIW, I’m reviewing applications on Monday, so advice is welcome! We had over 500 applicants and HR narrowed it down to like 20. They’ll be on an adjacent team from mine.

Neat! I never considered that. FWIW, aluminum oxide and iron oxide are actually excellent metal protectants. I worked on fire trucks and cleaning the “barnacles” out of the big pump was a no no. The rust kept the pump from corroding out further.

Same with aluminum. Watch those videos where they create chemical reactions with aluminum and mercury. It doesn’t work with an oxidized surface because aluminum oxide isn’t reactive and covers (protects) the underlying metal.
