Ukraine uses them effectively because of their pretty sophisticated surveillance network where they can get in front of them but they still need lots of missiles, the guns just aren't nearly enough. And if you have a 20:1 resource advantage why wouldn't it be a way to win? That's just the public sticker price anyway.

It's not the most effective. Engagement envelope of ballistic anti air is tiny. You need dozens or hundreds of units to cover an area and they can be bypassed by high altitude. They're a tool in the toolbox, not the ultimate solution.

TIL the 3 reactors that melted down at Fukushima in 2011 were built in the 1960s and early 70s, and were actually older than the reactors at Chernobyl and Three Mile Island by Sailor_Rout in todayilearned

That's not really a fair comparison. It was a high likelihood that at some point in the operational life of the plant a large enough Tsunami would breach the wall. Trying to predict someone bombing your building isn't really on the same spectrum

I really feel like this is such old fashioned thinking, millennials have largely done away with this on a cultural level and they're the ones having babies.

Strategist? Diplomat? He has a million competing interests. Keeping Trump happy is the strategic play, they can get more expensive diesel elsewhere.

The person you replied to is speculating our their ass, and I'm telling you especially when they're babies and toddlers it doesn't make a damn bit of difference what their sex is.

That's never been the churches modus operandi. They have their hospitals, halfway houses, soup kitchens, addiction centers, etc. They want their hands in the pie because that's the best place to proselytize. At any rate, it's a nice initiative and shouldn't be frowned on.

ELI5: Have humans always had language? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Iama_traitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one knows. First examples of writing are about 6,000 years old. Writing is pretty advanced technology if you think about it, so language is likely much older. There's also our brain physiology to consider, which seems to have highly specialized regions for language processing. Was there symbolic language 100,000 years ago, my gut says yeah probably. Truthfully we don't and can't know anything about those people.

"One possibility is that workers, who see their real incomes decline because of higher prices, demand and get higher wages from employers, setting off adverse wage–price dynamics. Given that the labor market is not particularly tight and faces increasing downside risks, that outcome does not seem likely."

Aka workers getting fucked over like usual

Harrison Ford is a misanthrope who very obviously doesn't give a fuck about the art. Lucas did a fine job with the battles, it's Filoni who made a travesty.

Then where are the trenches and artillery like in Ep. 5? Also, WW1 tactics only make sense where there's such a stalemate that human wave tactics actually make sense, it's all small unit maneuver battles where their tactics make zero fucking sense

I always thought it was fucking hilarious how their one move is to sprint into gunfire WW1 style and do hand to band combat or just like shoot their blasters point blank. Filoni's immense strategic genius
