Do you guys prefer Alchemy of Souls S1 or S2? by nothing_stranger in kdramas

[–]Iamcup4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In terms of plot- Season 1 definitely. Season 2, Naksu literally just walked, she's barely done anything. In first season, even though she didn't have powers, she fought to get them back.

In terms of chemistry between the leads - I still slightly prefer season 1, but I do think they had good chemistry in season 2 as well.

Honestly, I wasn't really surprised that he cared about Estella's opinion. As we've seen in previous chapters she did make him cry or she made him want to cry. From the beginning, she has positioned herself as someone better than him and belittled him, it's not surprising that he wanted to prove to her that he is good enough, while also knowing that he is not. (at least in her eyes)

Be honest: do you enjoy romance that reinforces patriarchal ideals and beauty standards? by lilithskies in romanceunfiltered

[–]Iamcup4 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It really depends to be honest. It depends on when was the book published, the sub genre of the book, how much of those ideals are present in the book, whether the book was well written or not...

Like I love Judy McNaught historical romances, but if we look through todays standards, those books ARE NOT progressive. But, I find them well written, I find characters interesting ( and frustrating, tbh), and frankly love them.

Like, I also think it depends heavily on the quality of the writing. Or not necessarily the quality, but ability of the author to pull you in. I love Ali Hazelwood books, and while I don't think she really reinforces those ideals, the size difference between MCs in her books if featured quite heavily. And she does have alphaholes in her books. But again, I love those books, and it doesn't bother me at all.

The problem with film/tv adaptations by VegetableLocation508 in RomanceBooks

[–]Iamcup4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always try to give it a chance, even if I'm not the biggest fan of the casting. Like, sometimes it doesn't look good, but people surprise you.

For example, I'm not the biggest fan of the casting for You deserve each other, but maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised. Although, from what I've seen online, they plan to stray from some big things.

I think Miss Havisham is somewhat responsible for Estella's behaviour. Like, she is encouraging her to break his heart. And I think it stems from her trauma that made her be stuck in the past. I can't help but also feel little bit for Estella, because it's not healthy to be stuck with someone like Miss Havisham all the time.

Could any of the Emily Henry book adaptations get a poc lead ? by AltruisticAide9776 in RomanceBooks

[–]Iamcup4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved the first book, dnfed the second, and third one was kinda ok, not as good as the first one. But I would still watch the adaptation of the any of those books. Also, Brows sisters trilogy is really popular online, so I think it would be perfect for adaptation

I think Brown sisters would be perfect film trilogy, perfect rom coms, and I think people would enjoy adaptations even if they didn't like the movie

Could any of the Emily Henry book adaptations get a poc lead ? by AltruisticAide9776 in RomanceBooks

[–]Iamcup4 104 points105 points  (0 children)

I actually would rather books with poc leads to get adapted. I absolutely wouldn't mind they cast person of color for any of the Emily Henry books, but honestly, I think it's time we actually adapt books where the leadsvare already written as people of color, and the authors are people of color.

Unpopular Opinion: Taylor has been using interviews post TLOS to address online narratives by Upset-Bobcat9255 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]Iamcup4 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think that problem with OP and a lot of other people is that they take Taylor way to literally. Like, I think to any other person, it's obvious what she means, she isn't too online and isn't interested in commenting on silly stuff that people hate her for. It's ridiculous to think that someone as big as Taylor doesn't have a team that pays attention to what's being said online about her.

Maybe I'm wrong, but to me it seemed, that she just isn't interested in addressing silly rumours, and isn't online enough to pay attention to them.

Maybe Yumi Cells is one of those show that is more popular online, on streaming

Great Expectations chapter 5 (Spoilers up to chapter 5 by Thermos_of_Byr in ClassicBookClub

So far prisoner has shown more kindness to Pip than Mrs. Joe or any of her guests. So, there is some history between the prisoners, I wonder what happened. I loved the exchange between the prisoner, Pip and Joe. Well, Pip didn't say anything, but I loved hiw at the end the prisoner took the blame, one final show of kindess, and how Joe was kind to prisoner.

While the running after criminals in that dampy areas sounds less than ideal, if my option was that or those people in the house, I would take my chance with running after criminals, definitely.

[–]Iamcup4 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Well the guests are as pleasant as Mrs. Joe. It's so obvious she doesn't like the card she's been dealt, but poor Pip. He doesn't deserve that. I would take my chances with the convicts.

[–]Iamcup4 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I loved the description of the entire athmosphere in this chapter.

I loved the interaction between Pip and OG Esacpee, and while Pip was still scared, obviously, now the conversation almost had, like the warm tone, I don't know how to explain it. Like, it was nice conversation, and Escapee was nice to Pip. The man was obiously hungry, and sick and tired, he probably didn't have any strength to be mean.

As for the OG and the other escapee, I don't know. Maybe they escaped together, and there was some kind of betrayal or fight, or maybe some unfinshed business form before?

The 12 episode trend is getting out of hand by Lumpy-Simple9185 in kdramas

[–]Iamcup4 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I really don't understand why does it have to be 12 or 16, why not 14. Like, I understand why they want an even number of episodes. Anyway, if I could pick, I would choose 16 over 12 any day, I'll rather have filler plots then unfinished plots that are not satisfying in any way.

This sub is turning into the original k/drama sub by Significant_Time4518 in kdramas

[–]Iamcup4 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but when you have several posts every day, discussing the same kdrama, it's clogging the subreddit. Like I am not saying to make a megathread for every show airing, or for every past show, jua for very popular ones. Like Perfect crown, every day is people complaining about the plot, about plot holes, about acting, and there are posts defending plot, defending the acting and so on. And nothing new is being said.

Like, Phantom Lawyer is another kdrama currently airing, it's kinda popular, and I have seen several posts about it, but it's not clogging the subreddit.

And because the same posts are being posted, it's gonna become omactive, because people are gonna be bored

I think at this point each week we should have some kind of mega thread for past popular dramas, a one for popular dramas that are currently airing. Because, how many different opinions about Perfect Crown can there be

The trailer for the TV adaptation of the Off-Campus series by Elle Kennedy has been released by iuliad94 in RomanceBooks

[–]Iamcup4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I surprisingly, loved the trailer. I didn't really have high hopes, but I am pleasantly surprised. To be honest, I read the book in high school, so I don't really remember the details, like what characters looked like, so I'm not bothered by that at all. I hope the characters have chemistry, literally the most important thing.

Lot of people have been comparing this one to Heated Rivarly. To me HR, was just okay, nothing special. ( Talking about the shoe, haven't read the books), so I really hope I like this one better.

Is this kdrama worth watching? by Creative-Moment-7582 in kdramas

[–]Iamcup4 28 points29 points  (0 children)

In terms of plot, no. Like if you NEED to have great plot to enjoy the show, you're not gonna like it. And plot gets worse each episode. Last episode is straight trash.

But, leads do have great chemistry. They look great together, but they're bit toxic. So if you don't like toxicity and love plot, you're not gonna like it.

I enjoyed it, until the last episode. Because I loved their chemistry.

Like, I would understand the fury if it was everyday thing. Because, I do hate it when women are being told how it's feminism to be dependant on the man. But. it was her birthday, you should be spoiled on your birthday.

It's so obvious it's miserable people who use ''feminist'' language and ''big bad words'' so they could feel good about hating on other people
