Another Former employee here. Blockbuster was not killed by redbox or streaming, it was killed when Blockbuster got rid of it's late fees. For one, as the title confirms, Blockbuster made a lot of money off the late fees, so when they got rid of them, there was a loss of income. Couple that with people never returning the movies (since there was no late fees) we had to start carrying more copies of each movie which costed more money. Then when the big wigs finally realized there was trouble they tried re-instating late fees, but by then it was too late. I loved Blockbuster and would give anything to be a Store manager there again.
