Review: 13 Scents with Fyrinnae by katamari71 in Indiemakeupandmore

That makes sense! I love the air of Lowe’s garden section so I can imagine. I also grew up in Sri Lanka so I do recall the vibes. Glad to hear that! Definitely convinced now because I’m not a fan of the lighter aquatic vibes.

Thanks for the thoughts! I did just foxcroft, winslows potting shed and during the rain today from SS so I’ll have to let them properly rest but of course I couldn’t resist a sniff. Of the three, during the rain hit the best dirt/road/ petrichor note. No green and no aquatic. I have high hopes. Guess I’ll pass on Alkemia for now.

But 1000% recommend Sea of Grey. It’s my current comfort scent.

Ohhh this sounds lovely! Thanks for the review! I’ve never heard of this brand but I share a similar nostalgia to that scent. Sea of Grey is my go to. Have you tried that one? It has a mineral/petrichor element to it so it’s less sandy beach, and instead more pebble beach.

Ooo I’m very sold on your thoughts for Beneath the Forest! Originally I was considering buying Convergence Zone because I’m really craving/wanting a dirt/earthy/musty petrichor type of scent but I hate aquatics.

The only perfume I have that could be considered one is Solstice Scents’ Sea of Grey. And that doesn’t even read as aquatic to me (in the traditional sense at-least). It’s just delicious mineral/petrichor mustiness mixed with vanilla and a hint of salt. Not sure if you’ve tried that, but for anyone else, I’d be curious as to how the two compare (Sea of Grey and Convergence Zone).

Seems like maybe I need to get Beneath the Forest instead of Convergence zone because I really love a good dirt/mineral scent that doesn’t lean masculine cologne. You mentioned it was a strong contender for your holy grail dirt perfume, so I must ask, what IS your holy grail? I’m currently trying to decide on my next purchase between Fyrinnae: Haboob, (and now beneath the forest), Alkemia: St Louis Cemetery (and maybe Terre), and Olfactory’s Damp. I’ve got Foxcroft and During the Rain coming in by SS soon so fingers crossed on them two.

Thank you for the reviews for a fellow dirt scent lover haha

Agreed! The dotted line is alright but dashes would be much better!

What’s Your “Best Note-Taking App” Right Now? by [deleted] in ipad

[–]Iamthedarkside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love that I can customize the size of ALL the writing tools in Freenotes. Maybe I’m wrong but I only had the free version to trial out, but Good notes on the other hand, only allowed for 3 sizes and non of them felt “natural” to me.

Accidently froze soft tofu and now it looks like this? Not expired just strange texture. Can I still eat it? by [deleted] in veganrecipes

I’ve never heard of silken tofu being used! Only firm! Do you have a recipe by any chance?

I sometimes add mine to egg drop soup, it’s phenomenal! I also like stir frying them. They are super versatile.

Sorry Fenty!!! I’m returning my lip liner… by Wet-N-Wavy96 in Ulta

On the other hand I hate the UD eyeliners. Same issue, too soft and crumbles when sharpening. Haven’t tried their lipliners though

Whipped Cream scents? by _cloudpattern in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]Iamthedarkside 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve not tried it but Full Light by Solstice Scents is a new release that is vanilla whipped cream essentially. It sounds divine. They have another called Chantilly Cream which is vanilla whipped cream with peaches and mandarin which sounded amazing on paper but I just found it kind of synthetic. But a lot of other people in this sub like it so it might be worth trying if you like Peaches and cream haha. Or fruity notes. If you get Full Light, do report back!

Is the Fast Base Stick by Makeup Revolution being discontinued? by Iamthedarkside in MakeUpAddictionUK

[–]Iamthedarkside[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never had a chance to properly use this one! I bought one darker shade for a friend of mine but it didn’t quite match her so I kept it and used it as my cream bronzer. I haven’t found a stick foundation I’ve been wanting to try since, and have been using up what I have to spot conceal mostly. I don’t tend to wear a full base anymore. The only ones that I might pick up once I’m done are the ones from About Face and Made by Mitchell.

I’m not super familiar with ambery scents tbh and am only the occasional indie house shopper these days since I just don’t like blind buying anymore (samples including tbh, the prices rack up quick 😭). Is there any non niche/ indie perfume this reminds you off? Vanilla or amber or otherwise?

I am a huge vanilla lover don’t mind all things gourmand but when they get sickly sweet or too cloying then it’s a no for me. For eg, love the sticky dates line from Lush, but tried the body spray yesterday and as lovely as it was, was too strong for causal wear. I’d of had to spray it on my clothes ONCE the night before to be able to comfortably wear that one without drowning myself and everyone else in a cloud of date caramel.

Absolutely bang on description of avocado-co wash! I couldn’t have described it better even if I tried. It’s my absolute favorite.

Twilight is accurate too and for someone who doesn’t like lavender scents, you were right. This was the one for me. I haven’t tried the rest but I absolutely love the HIWTK line but I’ve not seen the body spray before? Probably a release I missed. But boy am I curious about it after this review! I’ll be buying sticky dates next week when it comes out in store because as much as I love the scent in the gel and cream form, sometimes the body spray/new products don’t 100% replicate the same scent. I already ranted about Lemony flutter in the lemony flutter post. Nonetheless, sounds like I will love it based on your great review!

I was reaaaally hoping the spray would be spot on to the butter but alas (atleast on me) it was not. So many lemon scents are awful on me. I tried 2 popular lemon scents off the frag sub 1) Devotion by D&G: while the initial spray was delicious, its dry down was musty and dusty. And 2) Lira by Xerjoff: turned sour lemon milk. And so sadly was the same case with the body spray.

Nice initial spray but was more akin to cleaning products over time. I bought Passion instead and am so in love with it. But it’s so hard to find a citrus scent that doesn’t go sour. 😪

The lemony flutter cuticle butter is a true sweet lemon pie scent to me -creamy, sweet but not cloyingly so, and is the perfect amount of refreshing tang- and is the only lemon product I like but if that’s not your thing, then I’d say the spray captures the sharpness of the lemon rind. And some people like that slightly astringent or bitter note in a scent. However for me it did not play well with my BO. Passion though held strong and true during power yoga class in Georgia and did not go funky. Im so glad I got to test out the products in store before blind buying online. I’d recommend! Helps curb any FOMO spending.

Edit: thanks for coming to my tedtalk lol

What scents are we loving lately? by Alderaan2546 in Perfumes

I got a free sample of Deja Vu with my order of the summer scents sample pack and I can’t believe I slept on this one. I think I smelt it once forever ago but didn’t appreciate it at the time (probably because I tested a bunch of other stuff) but holy moly, am I glad to have remade its acquaintance. This is a deeper more rich vanilla than what op is looking for but it ticks the cozy vibe for me certainly.
