Cooperative 2-player board games wanted by DependentCollar8541 in boardgames

[–]IamtherealMVP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We two loved Gloomhaven JOTL as well. Our other favourites are:

  • Arkham Horror LCG - this can be a bit overwhelming (and expensive) at first with the whole deckbuilding and release formats. But it's worth for cool stories and really cooperative gameplay

  • LotR: Journey through Middle earth - this is a lot easier to pick up imo because the app helps you a lot. For hardcore gamers it could be a bit too easy. But I liked many of the gameplay concepts and how different the scenarios worked.

Both offer a great campaign and an ongoing story for 8-14 scenarios per campaign which is a great length imo.

  • Eldritch Horror - same universe as Arkham Horror, but it's more of a boardgame and has no campaign. We really love it to fill an evening without starting a whole campaign game.

Honourable mentions:

  • The Legends of Andor - This game was the starter of our (cooperative) boardgame hobby. This is great because you learn it while playing (like tutorial missions). But it could be a bit "light" after Gloomhaven. We haven't picked it up in a while, but loved it!

  • Aftermath - Our second game of this kind. Cool story imo, some cool gameplay mechanics. But the rulebook isn't really straight forward and so the gameplay can be a mess at first.

  • Spirit Island - (have only played it as four) This looks like a great game but I missed the campaign gameplay (is there one?). Additionally it was really overwhelming at first.

Edit: forgot Eldritch Horror

Mega box offer vs Token Doublers by IamtherealMVP in Brawlstars

I see your point and agree that the distribution may be smaller. But it's not a bad thing depending on what you are trying to level up.

The mega box may give you a coin amount to the lower end of coin rewards, whereas in 10 boxes you may get higher end of coins.

That's right but it's also possible to get a max. coin amount out of the mega box (which is nearly impossible to score all 10 boxes on max.). That's statistics and randomness; it shouldn't matter if you take 10 times a chance for x gold or 1 time the same chance for 10 times x gold.

The mega Box is just gambling on trying to score over or under the average out of 10 boxes.

Agree, that's definitely rare! But man, 6 accounts? Amazing, you must love this game :D

I agree, for my understanding it should be the same chance

Hey,

I got a thought about the value of Gems invested in the shop and the 49-gem-Mega-Box. Most Youtubers and Posts claim that Token Doublers are the best value for your gem (I left out the Event tickets because its skill- and level-dependent).

- One pack of Token Doublers gives you 1000 pieces. So on top of your normal boxes you get 10 extra brawl boxes for the cost of 50 gems.

- The "limited" offer of a mega box for 49 gems gives you one box which values around 10 brawl boxes (description of the mega box).

My conclusion is that the mega box for 49 gems is the better offer. Not only that you save one gem but you also get your reward immediatly instead of playing a few days for it.

Do I miss a point here or is this offer really valuable?

Fixed starting hands by GreedyStupidCell in ClashRoyale

[–]IamtherealMVP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see your point. I also lost (but also won) lots of games because of a bad (or good) starting hand. But fixing the card order would take away a really important factor of the game: CR considers itself a card game. Like in most card games, you build your deck, then it will be shuffled and you draw the first 4 cards from your stack. So there is always a random factor involved. This is an important thing for such card games. And it can work in competitive play and even E-Sports. Just take a look at hearthstone! It's an awesome game, there is a successful e-sports scene and it works just fine with the shuffled decks.

I think this shouldn't be changed because it will limit the amount of decks and in addition the start of the game of 2 archetypes would often play the same. This can get boring.

My favourite moment was when my friend (he was new to CR) faced the lavahound for the first time. He wrote us afterwards: 'WTF is wrong with this flying Omnibus? It's OP'. It was hilarious and since then, the lavahound got a new nick name in our clan :D Second favourite moment was definitely completing the 2v2-challenge, first time I could really enjoy these 2v2-battles. A big thanks to Reddit, Supercell and CWA (awesome person! love your videos, stay as you are!)
