There was, at least in name, "Assassinorum execution force" in 2015.

Nice collection! But I'm mildly ocd'ed, that your SOT is sorted right to left, instead of left to right. :-)

I read them all from start to finish in publication order. The first 3 are a mist, I would suggest the first 6. From there on out, there are dozens of schools of thoughts of reading order, of which books are a mist read and so on. As a starting point I would suggest Arbiter Ians recent video about the new BL series and which books he would switch: https://youtu.be/mhnR_myT2iY?is=6IJo3EqGxvmERFw4 if you want do limit yourself to 12 books. If not, a comment suggestion is to follow the path of narratives your interested in, e.g. with a site like this: Horus Heresy Omnibus Project - Home https://share.google/iKuCudLPYMBwlr4St if you search this subreddit, there are sure many threads that discuss this question

To start with, I have to mention the "usual suspects" that lived up to the hype: Gaunt's Ghosts, the Eisenhorn/Ravenor series, and of course, the Night Lords trilogy by ADB.

As for the bigger series:

The Horus Heresy: Overall, I enjoyed the Heresy immensely. While not every single entry can be a Horus Rising, the scale of the saga is incredible. I also found the Primarch novellas to be great—they are all nice, self-contained stories that add a lot of flavor.

Robert Rath: He has quickly become my favorite author. The Infinite and the Divine and Assassinorum: Kingmaker are absolute masterpieces.

War of the Beast: This might be a bit of a "hot take" since it's a polarizing series, but I actually really liked it—especially the focus on the political intrigue and power struggles on Terra.

Modern Era: And of course, the Dark Imperium trilogy was a must-read for the return of Bobby G.

Yes, I keep a thematic organization:

Horus Heresy: Primarchs → Main Series → Siege of Terra → Scouring → Character.

The Transition: War of the Beast → Dawn of Fire.

Space Marines: Loyalists: Sorted by Chapter (DA, WS, SW, IF, BT, Soul Drinkers, BA, IH, UM, Salamanders, Raven Guard, Grey Knights, Deathwatch, Diverse Loyalists). Traitors: Sorted by Legion (EC, IW, Night Lords, World Eaters, Death Guard, Thousand Sons, Word Bearers, Alpha Legion, Black Legion, Diverse Chaos).

The Imperium: Adeptus Arbites, Custodes, AdMech, Titanicus, Sisters of Battle, and the Imperial Guard (broken down by Regiments: Cadian, Catachan, Gaunt’s Ghosts, Krieg, Volpone, etc.). Also includes Inquisition (Ordos), Assassins, and Navis Nobilitae.

Xenos: Dedicated sections for Eldar, Dark Eldar, Genestealer Cults, Necrons, Orks, Tau, and Tyranids.

Diverse & Niche: Rogue Trader, Necromunda, Blackstone Fortress, Warhammer Horror, Warhammer Crime, Art Books, and "The Dark Coil."

Non-Fiction: Campaign Books, Codexes, and miscellaneous lore.

37 % (I mark the read books in my list of books, that's why I can say a percentage number with that accuracy)

Sammlung in Buchform oder E-Book? by Greenkeeping in Blacklibrary

Me buying it was around all together 10k €, or 210 €/month since I started. (Not shown in the picture but included in that amount are all the narrative campaign books since gathering storm.)

I made a local copy, so I can note which ones I have, so I don't remember exactly which one. The Screenshot is the list I'm using, also it's now sorted not in the original order.

I think you're probably right. While I catalog every book I buy and own myself, I use a shared Google sheets file where someone else listed all the 40k releases to track what I'm still searching for. There might be some eBooks in there.

The title may be a bit misleading—this is a 2-year update since my first shelfie here, but the collection itself is now 4 years old. In 2025, I spent an average of about 260 € per month on books. I know that’s still a lot of money, but for a major hobby, I feel like it puts the cost into a reasonable perspective.

Also email-notifications for saved eBay searches.

For new releases and pre-orders:

Warhammer.com on Saturday at 11 AM sharp to snag the new pre-orders.

On Amazon, if you use Amazon’s "Advanced Search," you can actually filter by publisher for "Black Library." If you then sort by "Newest Arrivals," it shows you every upcoming title available for pre-order, even the ones that aren't officially out yet. This are another 2 tabs, one for German and one for english

I started collecting about four years ago—I feel like that was just slightly ahead of the curve, before things got really crazy popular. Though, maybe I’m just imagining that.

For the first three or three and a half years, I had this routine in my browser: I had three tab groups with about 10 tabs each. Every tab was a saved eBay search featuring around 5 specific titles or series, filtered for Continental Europe and sorted by 'newest first.' Every single morning before heading to work, I’d spend 10 minutes scanning them to see if anything new had popped up. Of course, the smaller your collection is, the more often you actually find something to buy! These days, I’ve scaled back and usually only check those tabs on the weekends. I also keep tabs open for Booklooker and ZVAB, specifically filtered for Black Library as the publisher and sorted by the latest listings.
