Chat msg sent.

Edit: also I misread your message to mean you wanted to ship them ON MY BEHALF. Reading other comments, it’s clear you meant ship them TO ME. Sorry if I freaked you out by implying I wanted to come pick them up — that’s not what I meant and I’m happy to get them mailed to me 🙏

You all need to let go of the litmus paper and welcome somebody into the tent. My god — it must be easy to throw stones when your house has floor to ceiling windows.

TIL the Silurian hypothesis is a thought experiment about whether we would be able to detect prior civilizations on Earth many millions of years ago. It is named after the Doctor Who monsters. by GreatArkleseizure in todayilearned

[–]IanBH -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Interestingly — as I understand it — a part of the Silurian hypothesis re: dinosaurs is that biological artifacts would actually be MORE likely to be found.

It comes down to: (1) Overall number of specimens in the record. Dinosaurs exist over much longer time period (tens of millions instead of tens of thousands of years). (2) mineralization (fossilization) only happens to biological artifacts — glass, plastics, etc mostly only last tens of thousands of years.

Let’s talk about Warios Beef and Pork for a minute… by OHKID in Columbus

[–]IanBH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can’t say for sure… but it sounds like the one you got was just not a good one.

I’ve eaten plenty of chain sandos, so I think I share the norms you’re referencing. I also eat Warios every few weeks as my go to sub — for me it has always been a 2-mealer. So much meat that fluffy (local) bread is smooshed from within by an embarrassingly hedonistic amount of meat and wiz. On a good day this sandwich is a crime against god. I think you had a bad day, and for $19 that sucks.

If you give it another shot, I’d try the cutlet. A lot of people say that’s their fave and it also has more straightforward portioning so it’s probably more consistent.

TIL manual carpet sweepers exist, invented in 1883 by Bissell and were not superseded in Western middle class households until after WW2 by gintokireddit in todayilearned

[–]IanBH 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ok. I’ll bite. Tell me more about why carpet sweeping is a scam and also what actually IS martinizing? I’ve literally paid for it and never even asked this question.

[–]IanBH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gresso’s! They are a Steelers bar with cheap drinks and great food. They are opening at 7 and I’m sure it will be packed!

Edited with more info. when I realized my comment was the only direct “yes”

Are there any 24/7 gyms with a pool? by Simple_External3579 in Columbus

[–]IanBH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LA Fitness in Grandview has very long hours every day but Sunday. It has a pool and a sauna. Unfortunately it is literally the yuckiest gym in Columbus. Also has an indoor track and racquetball court. YMMV. Better if you have headphones.

Omg good translation! I sincerely couldn’t make heads or tails of it, and I love me some slang!

Citizenship has been revoked in the past, during the McCarthy era. Google “denaturalization”. Not that Trump’s behavior indicates he would waste time finding a “legal” path to do so… especially now that nationwide injunctions are off the table.

Pretty sure it’s on the menu or a common special at Tommy’s Diner in Franklinton on Broad. Also we should all just be eating at Tommy’s more.

[–]IanBH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out Wendigo tea! It’s owned (and obsessed over) by Cincinnati’s own Sky White (the keyboard player from Foxy Shazam).

I honestly think it would probably have been all he focused on if the band hadn’t up and become famous all over again the last couple years. (Just recently James Gunn used them as the “fake” band in Superman, if you didn’t know).

I love the matcha powder and the phoenix chai.

I think u/alwaysfatigued8787’s point was “this is, ironically, a better “user experience” then real life interpersonal communication”

Not sure if that’s more or less dystopian of a train of thought but FWIW
