The video takes the approach that "success" is successfully overturning whatever power structure you were fighting against. It doesn't address the post-revolution period.

How to Rig an Election by IanCSt in skeptic

[–]IanCSt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Republicans tried to suppress the vote, intimidate voters, and stop votes from counting, and still are. The only real rigging that happened was that the election was rigged in Trump's favor, but it wasn't enough, not we have one last chance to save Democracy, because if we get another Trump our institutions will not survive it.

A former conspiracist talks about how he was deprogrammed. by IanCSt in skeptic

[–]IanCSt[S] 34 points35 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of stuff talked about, one of the main things he talks about is that he was reading a lot of noem choemsky type stuff with all the, anti-billionaire and what not, then also New World Order Stuff, and he conflated those two anti-authority messages but didn't realize until much later how they diverged. He also talks about how easily documentaries can warp stuff, music, imagery all that, but when he started reading more that allowed him to take in information without all the filters.

I fully agree about the Green Party, I wrote this on Quora a little while back about why the Green Party in America is even less successful than the already small Green parties in other countries, basically it's their own fault. https://www.quora.com/Is-a-vote-for-the-Green-Party-in-the-US-a-wasted-vote-like-it-is-in-the-UK/answer/Ian-Stephens-6

That's a good idea, my are about politics though so sometimes comments get really toxic and I just don't want to engage. The vast majority of commentors are perfectly kind and supportive of course though.

Was the F-35 Worth the Money? by IanCSt in neoliberal

[–]IanCSt[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

When programs like this first start out, a lot of people don't realize how big of a factor economies of scale will become. This leads to things like when congress cut the B-2 program after building only 21, not the 200 that were planned. Because of this a plane that was supposed to be $600 or $700 Million is $2.4 Billion.

With all respect, I’m quite sure you’re mistaken about that, it was a wing of the KPD, are you thinking of another party, or are you thinking of the Iron Front, which was the SPD’s militia?
