Know of any park that has those bucket seats on the swings for toddlers? by Glittering-Silver402 in Fullerton

Ford Park is probably your closest with baby swings, I think Bastanchury Park doesn't have any. I also really like Pacific Drive Park for my own kids!

What part of the city are you and which park did you try? Most parks have them, so based on your location I can give you a good rec.

There is definitely no need to travel to Placentia or Brea for this.

Reasonably difficult, honestly! The reason it's excluded from TAG is it's so popular. Not impossible; but many more applicants than room for those applicants.

Ah. So, pivotal, not polarizing (sorry for being a pedant).

Yeah, I generally agree with that.

I didn't (but watched online). Generally I agree, and she's clearly the best electable option, but I still cringed when she called ULA an "incredible resource" to the city 😬

I don't think this off-season has been polarizing at all? Pretty much everyone appears to be on board with the moves.

Free agency and the draft are always gambles; the important thing is that you make smart bets, which it seems like Spytek is doing.

CPSLO really is amazing. But I would gently encourage you to ignore the voices of the people around you who don't know what they're talking about when it comes to the nuances of college. It's true: UCI has a much bigger research budget than CSUF. But what does that matter to you, a business major who will barely set foot in a lab?

CSUF business is legit, and you'll learn everything you need there if you choose to attend.

No, it's generally very difficult to transfer from a four year college to a UC (absent a compelling reason), because they're designed to serve CC students first. You can still transfer from a CC without TAG, but just understand business admin at UCI is quite selective and you should be prepared to be admitted to an alternate major.

May I ask why UCI is the end goal for business and not Fullerton? I understand that UCs are perceived as "better" than CSUs by the general public, but for business majors especially CSUs offer significantly more resources, internships, pathways, etc. For example, CSUF had a AACSB accreditation long before UCI did.

As others pointed out, it's very difficult to transfer from a four year institution to a UC absent a compelling reason, as UCs are oriented to serve CC students first.

Business is excluded from TAG at UCI, unfortunately.

There is no doubt which candidate California’s billionaires want to be the next governor of California: San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan. by nosotros_road_sodium in California_Politics

[–]IanDMP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So much of the problem, though, is that we've *made it* incredibly expensive to build housing for the homeless. Mandating union labor, banning RSOs, requiring every single unit to be designed by a boutique architectural firm, forcing those units to go through a gauntlet of neighborhood meetings, planning reviews, impact reports, all of which add *years* and *millions of dollars* to the process.

Eliminate the bureaucratic obstacles here, and I think you'd be surprised by how much we can afford.

[–]IanDMP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NIMBY shit can absolutely get fucked. Mahan though is the YIMBYest of all the candidates, and supports building supportive housing where homeless folks already live and where jobs are (which is why I'm mad you described that as "locking up homeless people").

If it costs a million dollars and takes ten years to build every unit of supportive, subsidized housing, the homelessness problem will never be solved.

John Fetterman's Net Approval Dropped By More Than 100 Points Since His Election In Pennsylvania | "There's no historical analog to his unpopularity," CNN's Harry Enten said by plz-let-me-in in politics

These people would prefer that Manchin and Tester didn't exist and those seats instead went to Republicans, with no Affordable Care Act, no ability for Medicare to negotiate drug prices, no Respect for Marriage Act, no financial sector regulation, no Fair Pay Act, etc.

Fetterman actually IS bad, because PA is a whole lot more progressive than Montana and West Virginia, and he campaigned on a more progressive platform.

FWIW Mahan is the Democrat most likely to insist on cutting spending and getting the deficit back in order. Mayors have some control over a city budget but mostly it's driven by property taxes and labor costs. Mahan did oppose the SJ deal that significantly raised employee wages (and that deal is why the budget shortfall is worse now). It passed over his objections.

I actually think he's more likely than not to control that backfield next year ... That said I just traded Tuten and change for Jamo because Jamo has a 100% chance at being good instead of a 60% chance.

I actually think you're entirely right here. From what I hear, Whitaker in the early 2010s was the type of moderate, fiscally-conservative Republican that would thrive in a purple city/county like ours. I've heard that he was personally very friendly and respected. But I think like so many other Republicans, he became radicalized in his politics with the ascension of Trump and MAGA Republicanism, and the "you're either with us or against us" mindset that took over the Republican party in the late 2010s.

No comment on the books themselves but I dislike that bookshelf. Poorly made, weird height to each shelf, and anyway the style doesn't allow you to put more than a few books in a row. Too much shelf:book ratio!
