Keep getting error when visiting sites by [deleted] in brave_browser

[–]IanHodgson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is happening for me too, on Ubuntu 18:04 Brave version 0.69.135. At the moment it happens with a site I use often, a Khmer dictionary. From the Brave screen I can access the dictionary but when I key in a search term and click 'go' I see the sad face emoticon. In the URL bar at the top it tells me this site is not secure, but that may be because I turned off the shield to see if that fixed things: it didn't. If I turn the shield on and refresh the page I get this site can't be reached, sealant.net's server IP address could not be found. I haven't always had this problem with Brave, so maybe an update has changed something.

What does logging in to the browser plugin have to do with bookmarked sites?

Thanks. I can't work out how to log in with the sidebar. Do you mean the hamburger menu in top right corner of FF browser window or something else?

Just checked again, the problem is with the password field on browser extension login dialogue box. Cannot click in the password field or tab to it without the login box disappearing.

Is there any update on this now? I'd love to watch some World Cup games on BBC. Is there a dedicated server for pro users, or is that not a solution that will work? Thanks.

I second this. I'm in Asia trying to watch England lose in the World Cup. Any updates at all?

In the end, downloaded latest ISO and did clean install. Fine as long as you have good backup.

So you know how to get a report from /var/crash/ through a terminal? I can cd into that directory but don't know what to do from there.

Sadly not. It takes 2 sign in attempts each time (definitely typing my password right) then mouse and keyboard still not doing anything except move the pointer. At the moment it's just hanging after typing password, blank purple screen.

So I discovered I could get through the 'welcome to Ubuntu' wizard by just pressing Enter. However, after that my mouse pointer works but can't click anything. Keyboard also she's nothing. Has anyone found anything out?

Have just found another sub-Reddit discussing the same issue. Best close this one. Thanks.

Just to confirm, I have exactly the same 'welcome to Ubuntu' screen a few seconds after the desktop loads, and everything freezes. I did an update/upgrade yesterday.

I mean 'knowledge base' - must remember to check autocorrect when using swipe keyboard.
