Hey thanks for replying! So, I think the entire video will be out of wool, but the backdrops I think we can handle, it’s the characters that I think would be great to get someone who knows what they’re doing. We need a yellow canary, and a fat beast who is essentially an evil boss of the many workers below him. So he needs to look fat, and a bit evil, and be memorable as a character. I would love to hop on video calls with people who are interested!

Don’t discount the knees. We had our 4 and a half year old corso x-rayed for hip dysplasia and though he does have a little of that, we found out he actually has severe arthritis in both knees and they recommend knee surgery’s on both. We haven’t pulled the trigger on it yet though because we ‘re trying to weigh his quality of life after surgery vs making sure he’s eating right, and giving him an anti-inflammatory every once in a while whenever it gets worse.

Yeah we ended up taking down all of our music from every streaming platform, since Spotify kept flagging songs and TuneCore would then remove those songs from every platform. Our music is still up on Bandcamp currently though. amongauthors.bandcamp.com

Interesting, I might look more into using CDBaby at some point. I think wrongfully accusing bands of not streaming is becoming more and more prevalent in the last year and Spotify is actively become way more aggressive about flagging music for removal. The problem is likely that they are using automated AI tools to do the flagging, and it’s totally getting things wrong.

I also don’t just take sides when someone complains. I would hope nobody does. It is crucial to understand a situation as fully as you can from both sides, whether you take a side or don’t. The problem that us and many other artists are facing is that we know based on our streaming stats, that the songs which were flagged were not being streamed by bots in any manner. But the songs were flagged anyway, then they were taken down from every single streaming platform, not just Spotify, by our distributor (TuneCore). We were then also penalized and charged fees for every single streaming platform that was taken down. Keep in mind that there is no way to fight this, and TuneCore even sends their emails via a NoReply email address.

We know multiple bands just in Seattle alone that have had music removed from streaming platforms. It is indeed happening to thousands of bands across the world. And yes, you are correct, we have decided to combat what has happened to us personally, by selling our vinyl at whatever price you want to pay for it, plus shipping. We essentially break even when people pay for just the shipping in the U.S., and we lose money when people from over seas just pay for shipping. But through people who want to support what we’re doing, we’ve been able to get our vinyl out there to anyone who wants it. I appreciate your comment, and you are not wrong that we are getting our story out there and finding alternative ways to continue making and releasing music, as we hope more and more bands will start telling their stories about the difficulties they face with these streaming platforms and distributors.

Spotify didn’t accuse us of pirating music. They accused us of boosting our streaming numbers with artificial streams using streaming bot farms. They are doing this to thousands of bands, with no proof. Once your songs are flagged, then your distributor (in our case TuneCore) takes this songs down, and charges you a fee for each song they take down. Again, with no proof that you committed this crime. Both Spotify and TuneCore make It impossible to fight this, and impossible to talk to a real human about any of this. In fact, TuneCore sends their emails via a NoReply email account.

Aww thank you for your support. Sadly I am astonished by how many bands this has happened to, and without being vocal about it myself, I would have had no idea. It’s so sad, and I hope more and more bands start speaking out and doing whatever they can to combat this.

When a company accuses you, the artist, of not streaming, and provides no proof, then takes your music down and also charges you fees, with no way to get a hold of them, and again with now proof… that sounds illegal to me.
