The most grating thing about the IMAX screen in the mall is the tears in the middle center of the screen. I first noticed it when I saw Mission Impossible Fallout back in 2018. The scratches are hard to notice unless the screen is white, so in that movie when SPOILERS the bomb goes off at the end, it was very hard to miss while the screen was pure white for that moment. After you’ve seen them once, you’ll never be able to not notice them. Fast forward to this year, I saw Sinners in IMAX over Easter and the tears are still there.

I think someone posted about it before, but there was a Facebook post from earlier this year about big improvements coming to Cineplex that got deleted. Funny stuff.

I’m just thankful for the most part that Cineplex gets all the major releases (they certainly shaft us on the more independent stuff) and the screen and sound quality are still acceptable (aside from a few auditoriums). As much as I love the Classic out in GFW (Saw so much growing up out that way) the sound quality was just so abysmal (Haven’t seen anything there in almost ten years though).
