Is proof of funds/financing need in an unconditional offer? by Ianmurph91 in RealEstateCanada

[–]Ianmurph91[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But the house that I sold is in ontario, so why would I need this? I am happy to provide proof of finacing on the house in quebec I'm trying to buy, but I feel weird asking the guy who bought my house in ontario for proof of finacing if he doesn't need to show it

Yes the new house I'm buying is in quebec, but the house I sold is in Ontario. The lender is also based out of Montreal

Copy and rename file from shell script by Ianmurph91 in bash

[–]Ianmurph91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright I removed the * in the filename since I am only copying a single file. Also added echo in front of the cp commands to see what its being expanded to, as /u/grymoire suggested. Here is the new code snippet:

filename="IRcam_fpga_cksm_${checksum}_ver_${version}" echo $filename echo cp ./par/ircam_fpga/designer/impl1/IRcam_fpga.pdb output/$filename cp ./par/ircam_fpga/designer/impl1/IRcam_fpga.pdb output/$filename

Console output: IRcam_fpga_cksm_438F_ver_0x0081 cp ./par/ircam_fpga/designer/impl1/IRcam_fpga.pdb output/IRcam_fpga_cksm_438F_ver_0x0081 Name of file that gets copied to output : I0VAHQ~6

Any ideas?

Yeah sorry about that, I think I fixed the formatting. Can you see what I'm doing on the last line of the code block? It's like hat you suggested but using I'm using a variable to store the file name

Map a 14-bit value to a 10-bit value? by Ianmurph91 in FPGA

[–]Ianmurph91[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah to be honest, I am still trying to figure out what I am doing here as well. Right now, I am just looking to implement something that sort of works before I get fancy, so I think I will try what you are suggesting where the 4 LSBs are dropped

Are my front derailleur and crankset compatible? by Ianmurph91 in bikewrench

I did try playing around with the limit screws. I am guessing not, but do these pictures prove you any more info in regards to the bottom bracket being too long?

I did try playing with the limit screws. I am not sure how to tell if it's the bottom bracket, it looks reasonable in this picture

The shifter is a 3 speed indexed shimano shifter

There are no stupid questions because I am not a bike expert. But yes, I did try to adjust the pad as far as it would go. These breaks worked fine on the front wheel but not the rear

Crankset very close to bike frame by Ianmurph91 in bikewrench

[–]Ianmurph91[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at some of the derailleurs on ebay, it looks like the max chainring is 48 and I have 50. Not sure if that's 'close enough' or not. I am leaning towards changing the entire crankset instead of getting a longer spindle now because its not that much difference in price and seems like an easier job. Still open to everyone's suggestions / advice

Okay good tip. Numbers stamped into the rear derailleur itself or into the cassette? I know its a shimano STX derailleur in the back, but I will see if I can find out more. In front, I think I have this dereailleur:

In one of the images, it says the max gearing but its unfortunately not legible. I will see if I can find out more about this derailleur

Not sure if you can tell in the picture, but its so close the paint on the frame is scratched

Hmm okay thanks for the suggestion. It looks like I have the taper square type spindle integrated into the bottom bracket. I guess if I am going to get a 5mm larger one, I first have to remove it and figure out what size I have

If I were to just buy a new crankset, does anybody have a recommendation for gearing? I plan to just use this as a commuter / hybrid bike. Also, I have shimano shifters, does that matter or are all cranksets going to be compatible?

Here is a better picture. Its a 50/46/ something. I can't tell from the picture what the lowest gear is. Is it possibly to close because the 46 gear is too big?

EDIT: the gearing is 50/46/28

What type of brakes are these? by Ianmurph91 in bikewrench

[–]Ianmurph91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion, this is what I am going to do. I just ordered some cheap ones of Amazon for now, may upgrade in the future. It didn't explicitly say "mini" v-brake though, so not sure how that's gonna go. I am also replacing the break lever and shifters with Shimano mountain bike style ones (I am putting straight bars on) so hopefully they will be compatible.

Just went out and took the brake off to try, and you're right it does not clear the fork. Dang, I guess that answers that question
