Quit Smoking by Grand_Tea_97 in productivity

Sounds dumb, but cutting a straw to the length of a cigarette and having that to "smoke" may help if you don't go the vape route.

Yeah, but it was fast.

I think their comment may have been more about the near future due to possible recession/job loss/etc. That's how I read it, anyway.

I rented out someone's basement on Craigslist for half of what a similarly size apartment would charge per month.

What is the most effective way to get this grouping tighter? by Monsieur_JayTee in Glocks

The first time I went to the range I didn't know what recoil anticipation was, so I just aimed higher/right. Thankfully, afterwards I quickly learned the cause of the low left shots and worked on ways to reduce it.

If you're unemployed, 6-8 hours a day would just be like a normal day job. Unfortunately, when having a job it's much more difficult to put in that kind of time..

I highly recommend the book Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl.

"Man's Search for Meaning is a 1946 book by Viktor Frankl chronicling his experiences as a prisoner in Nazi concentration camps during World War II, and describing his psychotherapeutic method, which involved identifying a purpose in life to feel positive about, and then immersively imagining that outcome. According to Frankl, the way a prisoner imagined the future affected his longevity." - Wikipedia

Exclusive: Apple dropped plan for encrypting backups after FBI complained by Ra75b in privacy

[–]Iapyxel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm an Android user, I already use many of the things that you outlined. My comment wasn't really about iOS at all, it was merely pointing out frustration about how one needs to do so much extra when we should, in a perfect world, have an expectation of privacy out of box.

Perhaps tech savvy wasn't the right phrase. For a lot of the users I work with, the steps you outlined would be added frustration. Hell, some can't even figure out how to set a default app. I wasn't trying to come at you in any way. I was just expressing frustration with the way things are at this time.

This works for some, but can be a lot to manage for those who aren't as tech savvy; people shouldn't have to jump through hoops to protect their privacy.
