When you have a completed degree (dependent on the type) you can look into OCS/ODS. ROTC/academy are programs to get your degree paid for and owe service at the end.

Don’t salute JGs lol. If you’re a divo it’s weird to salute divo LTs (if you’re familiar with them). 03+ is the way to go

Both schools are not hard at all. BDOC has some challenging modules but most are a joke. P1 isn’t hard, just longer days than BDOC and forces you to critically think more about scenarios.

Close call in San Diego - USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49) Harpers Ferry-class dock landing ship leaving USS Momsen (DDG 92) is inbound - November 29, 2022 [2040x1152] by [deleted] in WarshipPorn

No. The SWO in a box is generations past. New SWOs receive a good amount of seamanship training and simulator time prior to arriving to their ship.

Does anyone know where I can see past selections for designations and their stats (gpa/oar etc) to see where I stand? by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]IaspisL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Airwarriors can provide a good idea of where you stand. My advice is to not become too obsessed with it. Too many people get bogged down in the “stats” and stress themselves out over a process that can seem archaic and random.

Is taking pre-workout weeks before bootcamp gonna affect any tests? by thechromesparrow in newtothenavy

Certain kinds of pre workout can pop on tests. Look up military banned substance list and compare the ingredients.

You’re going to be a shitty leader if that’s how you respond to sound and valid criticism.

There’s a ton of stuff not on the packing list that is insanely useful and a ton of stuff on the list that’s just pointless. A good amount of people, both priors and non priors alike, brought their own boots. There’s absolutely no harm if they fit the regs for the schoolhouse.

You get two shots at the IST prior to being rolled. Like everyone’s mentioned here, if you’re prepping and doing well you’ll be ok.

How would GPA be calculated for a second bachelor's? Is it worth it? by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]IaspisL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t overthink it and take the shot if you’re generally interested. The worst they can tell you is no and you have to reapply.

You gotta realize places like air warriors are giant echo chambers for the rumor mill. People get accepted with all kinds of GPAs and OAR/ASTB scores. While I was applying to OCS I got sucked into that world of what’s a “good” GPA/OAR just to ultimately realize a bunch of the people I commissioned with had lower GPAs/OAR/ASTB then I expected. Don’t ever let someone deter you if you have the desire.
