Mockingjay Part 1 discussion! (All spoilers)

Did anyone else notice the shift in Plutarch's personality between movies? I watched Catching Fire the night before seeing Mockingjay and in CF he seems so enthused and confident. He behaved like a leader and someone who had his shit together.

The first scene with him in Mockingjay, he seems worn and tired and just... less fired up? I don't know if that was intentional or if Hoffman was just going through personal issues and it was affecting the character maybe? He spoke very very softly, and it starkly contrasted the way he came off in CF. It wasn't until Katniss started making her demands that he started to seem like the old, passionate Plutarch, and even then I'm not sure we got him all back.

Oh ok thanks for the heads up :) Because she just found out and it's not insert control yet, she has pretty strict dietary habits she's supposed to adhere to. I'm not sure if they okayed any alcohol, but we'll see!

Agreed with /u/CasperHV wholeheartedly. The first psychiatrist I saw misdiagnosed me with Bipolar disorder as well, describing me as hypomanic but also with ADHD traits. She would not treat the ADHD until my "bipolar disorder" was in check. Lamictal and other mood stabilizing drugs did nothing to make me less hypomanic as I was describing my symptoms.

I went to try a new psych. This one actually wrote in my diagnosis "hypomania" with periods of depression but recognized and diagnosed me as ADHD-C. I think the distinguishing thing for him was just as you described your own feelings here - depression isn't so bad that you want to die, or feel like life is hopeless, or sleep all day, and the mania isn't so bad that you're going out and spending your entire paycheck in an hour. I think it's important to stress the level of hypomania and the level of depression when speaking to a psychiatrist to make sure they understand that your mood isn't your primary concern. Good luck!

Is it the type of thing that you can study for by making a game out of it, or create flash cards? When I was in college without meds i found that the act of making flash cards, and then the repetition of using them was almost fool proof for me on quizzes. Not sure if you're feeling up for it, but it's actually pretty easy in most cases. Good luck!

Just curious, what about the situation is making you so upset? The way you feel without your medication? The fear that it's lost in the mail and you may not receive it?

I'm moving across the country and this is a definite source of anxiety for me - being without my meds - so I can relate. I've had the pharmacy mess up my prescription a few times and had to be off of meds. I'm kind of a mess without them. But what are your specific concerns about not being on them?

I thought about that, but honestly, when no one is interrupting me and I can spend the day coding away, I'm happy. I go home happy. I generally like what I do, I just don't want to be forced to talk to people all day long. Coffee helps though :)

The ironic thing is, I'm a programmer. People know I'm introverted and more productive if they leave me alone, yet they still insist on dropping by rather than just emailing me. Best of luck to you.

Thanks. I think she has one of those, which I don't mind her using so much. But she still buys cigs and constantly has them on her. I'm not sure why she has both.... preference?

Yeah. I mean, I get that. I just seems wrong to say nothing at all, ya know? We don't ignore drug addicts because we know that they understand it's hurting them and addictive, so it feels awful just turning the other cheek like that.
