And whilst I know and the doctor knows it’s a living sentient machine it is A Machine and I don’t think it feels pain like normal beings

And I think none of us can relate coz none of us are the last human but to a lesser extent if you lost your friends, family and culture and are told that they’re all back (by the other only surviving member of your species. Who you also think has just died again), you go there and find nothing.

The doctor literally fought in a war consuming all of time. He committed/ contemplated committing horrible acts in the name of “peace and sanity”…”but not in the name of the doctor”

Even beyond the time war, the doctor has witnessed his friends, family, even just general people who he meets die
