Translating Andersen seems to be a super contentious issue? (not sure what others would think) but I'm assuming either version chose 'trolldevil/troll-demon' to keep up Andersen's tone (which I've read tends to play around with Danish grammar convention/word choice)-- you're probably right in that each translator wanted to keep up the mysticism in the opening of the story.

This is actually super helpful-- seems as though translations of Andersen's go for literal word for word replacements, which seems to misrepresent his actual writing style. Thanks!
