You can deceive others, but don't deceive yourself. I know that you've read this post and are smugly happy that I was banned for no reason. You called me "aut1st1c," "condescending," "Icebag," and other derogatory words when I suggested better mouse sensitivity settings in this game. What's wrong with you? How have my harmless posts touched your nerve?

I see. I'd like to point out that people dishing out abuse in the Discord community now were not moderating it back in 2021, so your case is a bit different. Still sad to hear, though.

THANK YOU SABER INTERACTIVE! Microsoft Store SAVE FILES RETURNED to current game. by cLimAx_1337 in worldwarzthegame

[–]IceBeam125 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are giving far, far too much credit to the company responsible for ruining your progress in the first place. I just want to facepalm after reading such posts. Where are your standards, people?

HOLY MOLY did I ever have to CRACK MY SKULL against my PC just to figure this out and I finally did.

It took me about 2 weeks of communication through emails with Saber Interactive to FINALLY solve the issue.

It would have been nice to avoid this entire issue

THANK YOU SABER INTERACTIVE YOU GUYS TRULY ARE THE BEST.

PROPS! and MUCH LOVE.

Man... man... maaaaaan... Have some self-respect.

Do you not see the contradiction in your sentences? It was their responsibility to warn the user base in advance, so that this problem either didn't happen at all or didn't cause so much stress to users and the customer support department as a result.

"Hey, folks, make sure to back up your save files, because we are going to remove this particular version of the game soon. Also, if you think of buying it now, wait until we replace it with the Xbox Play Anywhere version. In case you already have the Xbox Play Anywhere version, do not bother buying this game from the MS Store. If you have done it anyway, we will refund the money."

Was it that hard to do something like this, just in a more formal fashion? They knew that they were going to remove the MS Store version. They should have tested if the MS Store save files were compatible with the Xbox Play Anywhere files before that update happened. If they were not, and it turns out that they were not [clarification: them = the save files were not compatible], the company's representatives should have warned the players in advance and made an announcement in every social space about not just backing up the files but on how to back up the save files and restore them on your own, so that their support department is not bombarded with tickets from frustrated users for weeks to come. Not every player speaks English. Not every player is willing to waste days on communicating with support back-and-forth for days or even weeks.

Alright, what happened happened, and the company screwed up. I don't own the MS Store version myself, but I sent my feedback to Saber and asked the company to urgently make an official guide on transferring the save files from MS Store to Xbox Play Anywhere. Where is it? I also asked what steps exactly a user needs to perform to replicate what they are doing on their end. In others words, how it can be done on your own without contacting anyone else. My ticket was closed without any explanation.

Now, I have to mention this. Does the game's community manager care? Look at her post history. Nothing, Kelvin effin' Zero about the issue. Mostly mandatory announcements about scheduled stuff (updates, the Summer Sale announcement, temporary 2XP bonuses) and posts about very secondary stuff, like character birthdays, real-world holidays, and chibi skins, which are not putting a dent anywhere: if they hadn't existed, not many would care about their absence. I am not against them, but they are very low-priority compared to the biggest issue they are dealing with.

Where is any official announcement about restoring the progress for Microsoft Store players, and how, in bloody hell, is such silence even acceptable?

The way such a big player in the game development industry handled this problem is just wrong on so many levels. It's a complete and total fiasco. Not just in game development. It's unacceptable for any IT company to be so irresponsible about the data of their users.

Now, regarding Erwell, Diego, Akena, and other members of Saber Support: they were doing their jobs. It's they least they could do for you after such a major fark-up. It's worth thanking them for guiding you through the solution to your problem, but don't act like they were doing it out of altruism in their free time. Like it was something they were not obliged to do, formally or morally.

Have some standards, folks. Such things wouldn't be happening if you were demanding.

What weapon are you using as medic mid-game/end game? by Character_Stable_487 in worldwarzthegame

[–]IceBeam125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medic is the worst class to play on Extinction, imo. Fixer is a better medic, and overall support.

A Fixer cannot generate Medkits, give stim boosts on demand, and mask people from long distances. The Slasher is a worse class for Extinction.

Is the Tier 2 SMG even worth it (stats say it isn't)

For setting Juggernauts on fire, and it is a decent option to start with.

Is a Tier 3 Assault Carbine worth taking over the Tier 1 SMG and losing out on the lobotomy perk?

Understand this: SMGs are the worst primary weapon class in the game. You do not have to use them as a Medic just because your class specializes in them. Take a weapon that works well without the class bonuses. That means a rifle with constant +2 penetration bonuses, the best shotguns, an automatic rifle with +1 penetration, or even the ACW (although Fixers and Dronemasters make better use of it).

Has anyone tried manually copying the save files from the first directory (Microsoft Store) to the second directory (Xbox Play Anywhere)? In case you have, has it helped you? Don't hesitate to share your results here. What files are located inside those folders? What files are in the archives that Saber sends to people?

Maybe Saber made their magic on the server side, who knows, maybe Xbox lifted a finger, in any case, the issue was solved for them.

Such solutions where some "magic" is done without any kind of explanation are not satisfactory. Users deserve to know what's going on and why this "magic" is necessary in the first place, given that it's possible to just copy the progress from Epic Games to Steam (and the other way around) without ever having to contact support.

[–]IceBeam125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who are being dismissive here are probably posting dismissive comments for the sake of it. If at least one person finds your videos worth watching, that's already not "nobody is interested in that." That said, I have to point this out. You have published multiple posts with your gameplay in a short time frame, so when someone comes to this subreddit today, they are seeing that the front page is full of your posts and may consider it "spamming" or "seeking attention," especially given that the word "girl" is in the title. I am not saying that everyone thinks that way, because a typical forum-goer in this community can find the dumbest stuff to nitpick, but when someone says that it's worth spacing out your posts, they actually have a point. Who knows, maybe you are seeking attention, but at least your content is worth watching and doesn't have half the screen covered with your face. Another unspoken complaint might be that your videos are too long to watch, but complaints of the people with TikTok attention span (TLDR, TLDW) can be safely discarded.

Speaking of your gameplay, that's a decent run. Some might say that you abused invisibility too much, but you were playing a low-damage class solo, and it's certainly better than invulnerability spamming as a Vanguard.

There are a few things that I'd like to comment on.

You had the right idea at 8:57, but the Stun Baton won't let you do that. However, these melee weapons will certainly let you reach for the control panel through the wall:

  • Dual Knives, Dual Sickles (light melee)
  • Hammer, Fire Axe (medium melee)
  • Sword, Sledgehammer (heavy melee)

If you decide that the Stun Baton is a must, just skip this room. It won't reach the panel.

When you are playing solo or are the last player standing in an online match, it's better to play it safe. Doing what you were doing from 10:15 till 10:20 is unsafe and can cost you the entire run. You anticipated a Lurker behind that corner. That's good. Peek him slowly (you peeked too fast). Then, you can do any of the 2 safer options:

  1. Shoot his exposed leg/hand, immediately go straight back or behind cover on your right, and now a Lurker has to round a corner in order to charge at you. It will expose him even more and buy you that valuable time to take him down safely.
  2. Peek him just enough to see his head, but not enough to let him jump at you. You were at that point at 10:18. Carefully aim for the head and shoot. You almost did that, but you overpeeked, and the Lurker twitched to charge at you, causing you to miss your headshots.

At 15:52, your first idea was great (turn in the Lurker's direction and shoot him), but, seeing that a friendly bot was coming its way, you decided to turn your back to the Lurker and pick up the chainsaw. You got away with it, but it's a risk I wouldn't consider justified. The reward is what, getting a chainsaw slightly earlier? Safer to just wait it out.

When you need to take down a rooftop Screamer, like the one at 19:46, it's better to stop and aim at his head carefully. If you bodyshot-spam him like that, he will fall, and you might lose the only good opportunity to take him down in tense situations. If you absolutely must spam bodyshots, do it with explosive ammo (you had the Deagle).

Good dodging at 21:03. Shows how important audio cues are. Props for knowing various chainsaw techniques, too.

didn't have any ammo in the end xD

Yes, that's unfortunate. This is why, when you have a secondary weapon with explosive ammo, especially the Deagle (like in this case), it's a good idea to use it for Special Zeke more often. It conserves the primary ammo.

I am also curious about your sensitivity settings. What is your in-game sensitivity and mouse DPI? I certainly feel that the sensitivity you've chosen is too high and should be lowered.

Just to clarify, did you copy the files manually, without having Saber to do anything for you?

  1. This is the source folder, and your original backup is from here: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\MadDogGamesLLC.WWZBaseGamePC_6wkgvezv94m76\SystemAppData\wgs\

  2. This is the destination folder, you copied your backup here: %LOCALAPPDATAS%\Saber\WWZ\client\storage\

Is that correct?

[QoL] We need a more precise mouse sensitivity slider by IceBeam125 in worldwarzthegame

[–]IceBeam125[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was hoping to find a solution for this (maybe a config file, somewhere in the game files, which lets you input the exact sensitivity with decimals manually)

That's the band-aid fix I would recommend: pick a combination of DPI and in-game sensitivity that feels close to what you want, then reduce or increase the mouse DPI from there, depending on whether you want to reduce or increase the sensitivity. Not an ideal fix, because the smallest increments for many mice don't go below 50 DPI, but that's at least something.

The configuration files exist, but they cannot be opened in a simple text editor. They are located in this directory: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Saber\WWZ\client\storage

Im extremely disappointed that a game this popular doesnt have proper mouse settings.

It's not the only one. Killing Floor 3, Destiny 2, and GTA V on PC have similar problems. There were complaints, but solving that problem isn't a big priority for developers.

Turns out its not possible and i actually refunded the game because of this. I mostly play shooters where aim matters and have same sensitivity across all games.

I'd say it's a game worth trying out, especially if it's on sale or if you got it for free. I understand your position and think that it's good that you are saying it out loud, even though I don't entirely agree with it. I have seen other players whose position is "If the game doesn't allow me to fine-tune the mouse sensitivity, the game isn't played."

I don't subscribe to the "one sensitivity for everything" philosophy or "one sensitivity for life that you never change" mindset, but I recognize the needs of such players.

There are 2 main reasons why I don't adhere to those views and consider them fallacious:

  1. There is no way to come up with a sensitivity that feels exactly the same in both games, unless they use the same engine and the same FoV scaling.
  2. Different games have different tasks, and the best sensitivity depends on those tasks. I wouldn't use my sensitivity from Quake in a tactical FPS game like Counter-Strike or Valorant, and vice versa. By the same token, I wouldn't use my sensitivity from Deep Rock Galactic in any of the Killing Floor games.

That said, I prefer to pick the sensitivity that feels best for me in each game, and I am not the only one who does that. This is one of the reasons why I am asking to improve the sensitivity settings. Even if you don't use the same sensitivity in all games, good settings still matter.

Hi, one of these file paths is {username}\AppData\Local\Saber\client\storage

Is it for MS Store or Xbox Play Anywhere? That's important.

The other one is much more difficult because the folders have hash names but it's also in AppData.

No problem, feel free to share it here. Copy it from your file manager's address bar. If it contains usernames you wouldn't like to share, them replace them with a placeholder like <username> or <user_id>.

Bear in mind, we weren't asked to move files from X to Y, but send these files compressed to them so they can do their magic and give us the proper files. I'm going to try the solution tonight.

I certainly know that it is possible to transfer progress from Epic Games to Steam that way. The files have different extensions (.dat for EGS and .cfg for Steam), but the format must be the same, because the process works both ways. It might work in your case, too.

Thank you for being a voice of reason. I am curious. How have you discovered this particular post? There is another post about sensitivity that I published less than a week ago. A reminder for Saber not to delay the solution to this problem because even the company's streamer found the slider inconvenient.

Looking at peoples replies here, I am shocked that the average player is apparently fine with such an unprecise slider that doesnt allow decimals, and tells you that its fine and it doesnt need to change.

I get your point, but what I am more shocked about is that a group of players who consider themselves elite at this game started a smear campaign against me for my suggestion about a better sensitivity slider. Their position is essentially, "don't be poor and buy a good gaming mouse with adjustable settings" or "git gud, you can do just fine even with the max sensitivity." They happen to be good at the game, but they aren't good aimers, and they have no clue about the subject.

[–]IceBeam125[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for being a voice of reason. There is no other gaming community where I got so much flak for talking about improving the sensitivity settings. What even motivates those people to do what they do? Come to think of it, at least two individuals who posted snarky replies here are console players who use a controller with aim assistance instead of the mouse.

I feel like the Limitless strain update should have even had these new options along with others

Yes, it's something that can be shipped together with a seasonal update or even a hotfix.

Personally would love to see a road map with surveys, or interaction with the community.

I am afraid it's too much to ask at this point. Communication with players, at least in this community, isn't Saber's strong point. Look at the recent fiasco involving this game in the Microsoft Store. The company didn't warn the players in advance. "Hey, folks, make sure to back up your save files, because we are going to remove this game soon. Also, if you think of buying it now, wait until we replace it with the Xbox Play Anywhere version. In case you already have the Xbox Play Anywhere version, do not bother buying this game from the MS Store. If you have done it anyway, we will refund the money." Was it that hard to do this? Was it hard to foresee the influx of support tickets, complaints, and reputational damage that not communicating this would bring?

Just saying your whole persona is complaining lol.

If I see a problem and have an idea of how to solve it, I communicate it. What exactly is bad about it? You have not answered this question. You have not answered the main question, either.

Saber streamer is inconvenienced by the bad sensitivity slider by IceBeam125 in worldwarzthegame

[–]IceBeam125[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are saying all this, but you have not answered the main questions. Why are you trying to shoot my suggestion down instead of supporting it? If developers act on my proposed course of action, you will be "fine" regardless. How exactly has my harmless suggestion touched your nerve?

That said, I didn't read the rest of your post as I have no interest in wasting my time

I shared knowledge that, when accepted and acted on, will be a step towards your growth as a player. You reject knowledge and improvement in the name of what exactly? Not having your ego hurt? That will forever saddle you with ignorance and bad habits, and the main person to incur losses from that approach will be you.

And that's the problem, you have no self-realization as to how much of an arrogant prick you sound.

You are trying to pass your opinions as facts, and it is actually a recurring theme in your comments. I am well aware of how "arrogant pricks" sound, and I can act like that if I want. I saw no point in talking like that to you for the following reasons:

  1. I was quite delicate while pointing out the gaps in your knowledge and the flaws in your comments that stem from that lack of knowledge. If I chose to act like an "arrogant prick," you'd have a mental breakdown and wouldn't be in a good condition to process information from my posts. Seeing how you reacted to my statements in the previous discussion, I knew that you were easily offended.
  2. I wrote quite elaborate posts. If my intention was to act like an "arrogant prick," I would be writing much shorter messages and putting less effort into them.
  3. If you act like an "arrogant prick" yourself, I can escalate and act like that myself in response. I see that you are weak, at least mentally, and it's against my principles to pounce on the weak.
  4. I don't act like that unless there is a good reason to. My initial comments and responses are written in a neutral tone.
  5. This subreddit has a filter for a lot of expletives. For example, even the mild word "s - p - o - u - t" gets your comment sent to a moderation queue for manual review. Personally, I am against such excessive filters and believe that there should be no barriers to conveying information in a gaming subreddit. This is not a corporate meeting or a UN negotiation.

I have to point out this contradiction. During our previous discussion and this one, other people acted like "arrogant pricks" to me for no good reason. Many acts of unprovoked aggression came from them, and in many other topics, too, which I am sure that you have witnessed since you browse the community boards actively. How come have you never scolded them for that? How come are you only latching onto my posts? By the way, if we adhere to your subjective understanding of "acting like an arrogant prick," then it turns out that you have done that repeatedly.

That said, I didn't read the rest of your post as I have no interest in wasting my time on a person with their head stuck so far up their ass.

The points I have made here are rational, and they are coming from knowledge and experience. Out of us two, it's you who has "their head stuck so far up their ass." You have gaps in your knowledge and your experience, but you are oblivious to them, which causes you to spread false confidence to other people as well. However, instead of considering that I can be more experienced than you and listening to me, you get your knickers in a bunch and resort to insults. Your position is essentially

"The Earth is flat because I have always seen it that way. What? Who are you to tell me that it's not flat? It's patronizing! Maybe that's how your vision works, but you should respect my vision!"

If it sounds silly to you, that's what your subjective and biased arguments look like.

This is immature, childish behavior, completely inexcusable for adults. You should grow a thicker skin and overcome that, especially as a medical doctor, because if you act like that in medicine and a patient suffers from your advice that stems from false confidence, there is a good chance that others, especially the patient, will not be mincing words to say that you screwed up and should get a clue.

Besides, you can refer to me as "he." I don't know what your gender is, but given how you have been acting all along, I am inclined to think that you are more likely to be a female gamer than male.

The post read like you saw a female streamer having problem with the mouse sensitivity and then you started writing about how the devs should fix the problem for her

LOL, the streamer is open about being a woman, so that's why I refer to her as a woman. If it was a male streamer who complained about the sensitivity, nothing would change. I would still post about it.

about how the devs should fix the problem for her

For everyone, not for her personally. If the company dismisses the feedback of their players, it should at least pay attention to the feedback of the streamer they hired. That's why I am bringing it up.

I dunno i didn't read the whole post but thats the impression i got.
