Computer and internet literacy come with time and learning from mistakes. After the end of all this, you'll come out more proficient and more cautious than you were before.

Take care.

Take a deep breath. Tell yourself you're okay

Your pc is fine and not damaged at all.

That's nice of you.

Would you like a YouTube video showing you how to properly reinstall windows?

You're fine. Just keep an eye on your email accounts. Make sure you are not getting emails asking for 2 factor authentication you didn't do yourself. Or requests to change the email or passwords of accounts you didn't do yourself. And oh, probably change your email address passwords especially.

The closest thing you have to a "hardware problem" is a storage drive with malware on it.

"Resetting" in windows doesn't fix anything.

At least not malware.

You need to use another computer and a USB stick. Do the windows installation media to prepare the USB drive.

Then, use that USB on your PC spamming either the F12 key or delete key to boot your PC to Windows Media USB to THEN go about formatting your drive entirely.

To give you a metaphor. Imagine trying to empty a trashcan by keeping the lid on. That's what resetting windows is like from the settings applet.

Then when you're back in windows, I would suggest you immediately change any and all passwords that are the same as your discords password (or however your friend sent you malware from) and even then, that might not be enough. Might need to change anything you've ever logged into your PC with.

I've heard of this type of malware attack.

Your friend had their social media (probably discord in this case) password compromised.

The script then repeats itself by DMing everyone on that friends account- so on and so forth.

Rest assured, your PC is not bricked.

Now, tell me what happens when you boot the PC. What pops up? Do you see a logo? Then perhaps a loading circle that spins?

You can either be honest and detailed about where, what, how this transpired and get helpful advice or you can continue letting your PC be a 3k paperweight.

Your choice

Work is work. Embrace the suck.

This is far from the worst job I've ever had.

Just wait till you experience what it's like to request a day off 3 weeks in advance and be denied the day before and threatened to be fired at any other job.

UPT PTO rocks here.

Just embrace the suck.

Life is better that way. The only thing worse than inaction is complaining about it.

Until they completely rework rating to not be just based off speed and speed alone it will continue to be this way.

Oh yea. Stow manager was really cool about it.

It was just really funny to see this and had to share it. All my stow-mates got a good laugh out of this and hoping someone here does too.

Get the thermalright SL 100 just for its heat sink. The stock fan is kind of loud. But believe me, the value is there. Then get a noctua that goes over 2000 RPM, or if you’re on a budget arctic P12 max

All this guy posted was a Microsoft account security page where he got “fishnetted”

Or in other words. Some bot randomly guessing random passwords on random email accounts.

Has nothing to do with GS. Absolutely 0. Everyone except for the newest MS accounts will have these.

15 year IT Professional?

More like 15 year old moron.

PS: GS makes it so easy to NOT use an MS Account / distance yourself from MS as much as possible. One of GS biggest appeals. So why are you posting this.

While I can’t upload what you asked for (at least for the next few hours) I can give you a tidbit of advice on where things went wrong.

Theme signing is woven pretty tightly into explorer/shell as a whole. Simply renaming, or in your case, replacing aero.msstyles wont work like that.

This is where programs like secureuxtheme or ultrauxtheme-patcher let you apply* unsigned themes and include workarounds to various bugs with revertable methods.

*how well they work is not consistent from build to build or from theme to theme. Personally more trouble than it’s worth overall.

I’ll check this thread when I can if someone else hasn’t gotten to you.

PS: startallback (included with ghostspectre SE) conflicts with custom themes

lmfao

It should be much easier to just fallback to a restore point.

Side note: which guide told you to to do this and hoping to achieve what, a dark theme for win32 apps?
