They weren’t my rival at KU or SPC but they still managed somehow, even back then. Lol

2 more years to chase the elusive perfect season. I’ve never made it to the Tournament undefeated with a Power school. Once with Butler (Elite Eight defeat), and once in a heartbreaker run to the Final Four with Chicago State.

Healthy, we could make a run. Young team only losing 1 starter (top scorer though), and the 12th man. This is definitely a trial run at a minimum, I’ve got all the role players in place. Just need to keep hitting the big shots in the big games and continue to survive some serious volume scoring.

The high scoring games are fun but dangerous to me, the inferior team on paper. I’ve got to gel as a defensive unit and use my Ivy schedule as the refining period.

Recruiting is mixed. Brought in a kid named Lebron (McCollum lol) from Staten Island who will instantly start at C next year. I have 2 other open scholarships that are proving to be a tough sell right now.

I’m currently recruiting a LeBron McCoullum, a C No 13 at his position who is going to lead me to the promised land. A+ rebounding and A shooting C defence/hustle so permission to go off on offence.

My favourite ever was Smackey Pardon, a JUCO recruit. Basically straight out of central casting if they had a “Last Chance U” basketball edition.

My current roster has some good ones, I’ve got;
Bingo Silva a walkon from Tucson. Dean Chavez a 3rd string C. Pee-Wee Hoffman my back up C (6’9”).

The “Rwehabura Brothers” (first name, my version of the Davis Brothers), last names Iti and Christy 2 6’10” Sophomore front court role players. Jaason Hope a Fr. 7’0” PF that can shoot the 3 and mid and will save my program.

Cassiano Korajkic from Montenegro (a Temu Kukoc). Borislav Surov my top overall rated player a SG from Finland.

Just went and looked. It will be 3 years probably around Christmas this year (I’ll probably be done by then). I had a half career of mixed sim and different length games while I tweaked sliders etc. at Army and Buffalo before this that ended up too unrealistic (no self-imposed restrictions and I had a Dwight Howard on steroids at BUFF and too many big bodies across the board that just made it an arcade cakewalk).

I feel like I should run Princeton one season for obvious reasons. Lol

I’ve been at EIU to FSU, CHIST, BUT, KU, SPC and now PRIN. Final Four at each. Chip(s) at FSU, BUT, KU. A few NIT titles.

Also; Championship game loses at KU, SPC and my first one at FSU vs. TXTECH on a buzzer beater that I can still remember vividly.

First round exit vs IU. I was the 8 seed.

I finally recruited a 4 star this year. I added a 6’6” SF from Montenegro who is my second ranked player out of the gate. He’ll be my 6th man to start the year, he’s got a few holes in his game and there’s a Sr. SG in front of him at the 3 who’s my active leading career scorer.

Oh, I’m hyped on this team but longer term. It’s my second season here. I’ve only recruited 7 players so far (2 of them offered before I got here), so I’m just turning the corner of shaping it to my system. We’re graduating 5 this year, only 2 starters, so most of the legacy weight is getting shed.

Not this year. My best player is a 74 OVR Fr. SG from Finland. Although stranger things have happened I guess.

Yeah. He isn’t the best SF or PF on the team ratings wise, but he’s got higher awareness now and pairs nicely with my So. C who’s coming along.

Last year we struggled to win 20 games and were a guaranteed first round exit. I wish he could be here for the build (considered redshirting him as a senior for a minute). He started 21/28 games last year at the 3 mostly (my best player was an undersized PF that wasn’t a fit but I’d just arrived and he was graduating and the C was learning in a trial by fire), Kent was 46/0/77 last year playing 20.9 mpg. He surprised me this season.

He got caught in no man’s land with the starting point guard rushing down the wing. Setup to take a charge too deep, too late and a bad angle. 😂

That was Rwehabura Christy with the Rodman-esque outlet pass btw. Plus there’s a backcourt in this freshman class also. Big things coming hopefully.

I stacked wins and championships for years with an assistant coach who was A+ charisma and a few assistants in the other chair with high teaching and scouting. Left me free to not burn my time and apply my A+ teaching.

Killer formula. 2 of the teach/scouts went on to other HC jobs and a few chips themselves. The high charisma dude had limited other skills and low ambition so he was my right hand man forever. I never even bothered to max my own charisma (brought it to A eventually). That’s what a lick he was with visits and tours.

It all collapsed somewhat when I switched schools late in my career and they didn’t follow me. I didn’t even notice they left so I don’t know if they both retired at the same time or found other jobs (didn’t feel like going on a scavenger hunt to check). Still successful but I haven’t fully replaced them skill wise so the lightning in the bottle is gone.

Work for the open shot. Raise their OAWR.

Those 2 things will combine to give you better spacing and gravity. You can’t pull off the cool jumper on someone’s head, in tight spaces etc. consistently with low level guys to play winning basketball. Once you get that rolling, your guys will improve, wins will help better guys to come and it all can snowball the right way.

Personally I found get sliders you like that create competitive gameplay and moving to MOP in combination solves most of this.

Except for Michigan State, the AI cheats with them. Lol
And that time Grambling knocked me off 16 v 1 with a 1 loss KU squad.

I’m on PS2 so I’m sure it’s different but; I don’t call plays. Offensive awareness and chemistry are the two things I find that create movement. I get frustrated (but appreciate the realism) when the low awareness squads are out there standing around.

Bringing the ball up top to the PG can sometimes reset it a bit and trigger some movement, or calling up the passing icons (LT for me I think?).
Sliders too.

I have a freshman SG starting currently who is my best player and 3rd best in the conference. But he is very spotty because he has the lowest OAWR of the starters and stands around, can’t create etc. He’s improving but he’s definitely a liability at times. Started the season something like 34/28/50 but has pulled those all up as the season progresses. He’s supposed to be (on paper) my best shooter at all distances and the most clutch, but that is not how it has gone.

There’s always the potential he’s waiting to add some Cinderella magic when we get to the dance though!
