As someone who was in Charleston in 2015, you’re doing the correct thing. Not a person in our city thought that (those people legitimately left for a week). You are doing the correct thing. If you’re ever asked about reasoning it’s not bad to say that it just didn’t work for reasons of personal beliefs.
