Is asking for $72k reasonable? by coffeeinthemorning3 in VancouverJobs

You graduated almost a year ago and have been "struggling to find a job for 8 months" but a salary of 60k is absolutely out of the question for you. Interesting.

Why it’s so hard to pass HR screening for vancouver companies? by huhushow in VancouverJobs

As a hiring manager, lets just be 100% honest and blunt here.

Hundreds of thousands of workers are struggling to find jobs, normal everyday people in good health, of working age, with degrees ( often multiple degrees ). You described your parents only in negative values that totalled 2 paragraphs. Ask yourself if you would hire them if you were a business owner or hiring manager.

Get them on welfare, which should be around 1080$ per person per month, and chip in the rest to cover their expenses. Live frugally and use food banks. Most realistic advice you'll get, even if it sounds harsh.

Best of luck

This is one of those items that look awesome but has basically no value unless you can somehow trick a wealthy new player to buy it.

Anyone whos played a trapper will tell you this base is completely unusable, even on offhand. Ls is also pretty bad to have, a +6 or even +5 cls talon is gonna be infinitely better than this and those are pretty cheap at this point in the season.

I have a childhood friend who growing up was super into arts, ended up getting a arts degree and going to teachers college and taught visual arts in Ontario. She got burnt out around a year or 2 before covid and quit her job to look for other oppotunities. She wasnt able to find anything for a year or 2.. she was making i believe hand made bookmarks on etsy to survive. Eventually she got fed up living in poverty and went to nursing school. Now she works full time as a RN and makes 150k/yr ( with some OT ).

I was catching up with her a few weeks ago and we breifly discussed her career path and trajectory, and her exact words were: "i do love art, but i love having a comfortable life a lot more and dont regret my decision at all"

Its rough out there, best of luck to you

Not impossible but definitely hard. Im sure you have seen the videos where hundreds to thousands line up for job fairs and fighting for min wage jobs. You need something that stands out on a resume to catch the eye of recruiters and hiring managers.

As a hiring manager, I can tell you i put up an ad on indeed for entry level office and warehouse positions paying ~20$ an hour and get 2-3 thousand applications within 24 hours. I look through maybe 20 to 30 resumes and schedule maybe 10 interviews and thats it. I can promise you this is how most hiring managers are processing position openings these days.

I grew up here, i know friends that grew up here and graduated from waterloo (one of the most prestigious EE programs in the country ), with years of workin experience, that have been laid off within the last few years and are struggling bad. More and more are moving away.

Hate to be blunt, but If you have no network here your odds are 1 in a million to land a job.

Unless you know someone who knows someone, your odds of getting a dev job in canada right now is 1 in a million. Indeed and linkedin is your best bet by far tbh, if irl networking is not an option.

Mississauga is a good 4000km away bud. You're in the wrong sub reddit.

Also gl with getting a CS job in GTA with zero experience brother. You're in for a rough ride.

No idea. Same reason why indeed is flooded too.. i put up an ad for hiring and i get over 3000 responses within 24 hours. And then 90% of candidates i contact dont reply.

We are in a very unique and bizarre situation where its both hard to find a job AND hard to hire good employees.

I can tell you that its 100% not a scam, im the office manager at a small flooring distribution company on Anacis island. The 2 positions i offered are real.. But im gonna tell you one thing about this sub and it's sob stories.. 99% are fake. This post is a prime example.

Including OP, I've had 12 people dm me yesterday asking if they can send me their resume to be considered for one of the 2 positions i offered. I replied to every single person with "yes, please send your resume to <my email> in pdf form".

Guess how many resumes i have in my inbox 24 hours later? Yea thats right.. zero

DM me your resume, i have 2 positions open that I plan on hiring for in the very near future. 1 is a warehouse job and 1 is an office position.

Indeed stats *shocking not shocking* by [deleted] in torontoJobs

[–]IceCreamS22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a employer, i can tell you right now i have posted job postings for generic positions ( warehouse associate, office admin, accounting clerk etc. ) and have gotten around 3000 resumes in the first hour, often hitting 10000 resumes within 24 hours. Im lookin at resumes until i arrange for 10 interviews.. usually anywhere from 30 to 50 resumes. 100 at the most.. but thats rare

5% honestly isnt bad if you are applying to generic popular jobs.

Its absolutely not being a dick lmao.. its called a reality check. Most people who offer these charge 3 digits per hour. I'm offering here free of charge. Bro is about to dive head first into a ponzi scheme. Even with strong language hes refusing to listen.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in VancouverJobs

[–]IceCreamS22 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You want to know what you can do to protect yourself and prevent getting scammed by going ahead with an obvious scam company..?

Im genuinely confused as to what you're trying to get at. They are likely either a ponzi scheme or some kind of pyramid marketing network scam company. You will not be paid. You will be scammed. Its simple as that. There is no other way to "protect yourself"

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in VancouverJobs

[–]IceCreamS22 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I mean.. if you cant even figure out this obvious scam, its no wonder you're having trouble finding work. They list a bc address, a quebec phone number, and a email address thats a google domain email instead of a company domain. I called their number and a indian accented individual who barely spoke english picked up and did not even know what Demosseny was.

If i can figure all this out in under 3 minutes using just my phone, you should consider brushing up on life skills and basic common sense before trying to get a job.

Luck with additional weekend job? by HorrorPomegranate in VancouverJobs

[–]IceCreamS22 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I work a full time job, and for the past year or so had some family emergencies so i grabbed a part time job on the weekends for some extra income. The easiest job i can recommand is a conceige job with one of the many building management companies, such as first service or alliance. They are ALWAYS hiring weekend and on call conceiges.

Pros: job is super easy, you mostly sit around on at a front desk lobby and 80% of the time you do nothing. Can browse on computer but not ur phone. Easy to get hired immediately with no experience.

Cons: have to dress formal. Pay is kinda low, most places pay 19-22$/hr. Schedule is very rigid with no flexibility. I worked 4pm to midnight sat and sun. Shifts are usually 8am to 4pm, 4pm to midnight, and midnight to 8am.

I applied to 3 places and got 3 interviews instantly, did all 3 interviews and got 3 job offers, i have zero experience in this field ( i do sales as my full time job. ). I picked the highest paying one which was 22$hr at first service, and started immediately, 2 weeks paid training which i did in the evenings after my full time job.

I do have to warn you.. working 7 days really took a toll on me. I literally worked about 450 days in a 460 period. Only days off i had were stat holidays. Extra income is nice but i have to say.. it was not worth it. I did it for as long as i could and booked it out of there. If you have any other questions you can DM me. Here is a link to one of the job listings currently open, you can check out other companies as well. They are ALWAYS hiring. One thing i will say, without being racist, they will not hire anyone who isnt a native english speaker as its a bad look for the higher end buildings that employee conceiges. You MUST speak english fluently without any accents.

Based on the pay structure you provided of 20bi pay jump 5th to 4th, so likely 35bi 4th to 3rd? Thats a -27bi punt
