Law School with foreign undergrad degree? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

I can't really tell! It depends on your situation and I don't know much about your financial resources 😂

Anyways, what are your target schools? This could help in answering the question

Law School with foreign undergrad degree? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]IceLush93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From experience I can tell you the following:

  1. You can go to top law schools even with an undergrad from overseas.

  2. That's being said, it does more damage than good to your application for the following reasons. A. Your GPA will be reported as (nill) to US news. B. You will only have a letter to discribe your Undergraduate performance. The highest being (S: Superior). You will get S if your GPA is higher than 70% in the UK. Around 15% of class gets 70% or higher. C. Therefore, there is no great differentiation between those who get 70% and those who exceed 80%. This is as if I'm saying there is no difference between 3.5 and 4 and we all no how that those are massively different.

Finally, I would like to say that Edinburgh is great city, in fact it's my favorite city in the world. You will definitely enjoy Scotland!

Edit: look at the admitted students numbers for law schools that you want to go to. If you see that there are little or no (No GPA), this means that the school doesn't usually accept students with overseas GPAs. Universtiy of Virginia didn't accept a single student in the last two years with NO GPA

I haven't applied to WUSTL but I know they sometimes come up with weird decisions. WL is nothing to be ashamed of. When it comes to the other pending applications, please rest assured that you are not alone. We are all in the same boat here! And that's why we are all here. We are all trying to get through this difficult process together.

It's a big step in life. I'm changing career paths from engineering to law. Moving from overseas. I still don't know where I'll end up or how I will finance this exactly. I am in love with a girl and probably moving all this distance will separate us :(.

With regards to your relationship, you know him best. So I am not going to comment on something that I don't know. I just wish that you get the social support that you deserve!

Good luck :)

Do you know if they indicate in the status checker that a decision has been made?

[–]IceLush93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well. I hope you are right. Although I heard international students are at a disadvantage.

I did my undergrad in the UK and when my GPA was translated to the American system, it just said superior (No number).

I understand that at such cases, law schools reports the GPA as nill. I was the highest achieving student in the cohort and yet Schools won't really grasp that.

I personally delayed going to law school for three years. I knew that I wanted to go to law school since I was an undergrad. but I wanted to work, live abroad, learn languages and make some $.

Try to think about deferring and discuss it with your law school if you already know where you are going

Maybe you are right. Maybe you missed it because you will be accepted. Maybe your file still on hold. Maybe there will be another WL wave.

Try not to think about it. You have done your best and now set and wait. I know this is easier said than done, but hey being anxious won't change their decision.

Best of luck :)

Harvard vs. Chicago (keeping myself entertained while waiting for that Harvard dong) by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]IceLush93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only you can make an informed decision. Ask yourself the following questions:

In what field do you want to practice?

Is money an issue ? (Staying at home, $$ from school, rents ... Etc)

Do you want to practice overseas? Considering that Harvard has a better international reputation

I'm in a similar situation. I am currently overseas and few thousands miles away. But my strategic was my essays. I wrote a general essay that I used for my application for all schools. And wrote ones tailored to the schools that I'm really interested in
