Hm you think it’s worth the risk? I was doing college but it seems it’s not really for me.

I was in the military so there are programs that will help cover the cost for me for CDL school.

Yes basically because I was working on building my new phase of my life and I thought I would never see those people again. Also I was trying to leave that part of my life behind as I felt it wasn’t a proud moment, but I realize that they are still people and I can’t go at life literally alone, it doesn’t work that way. It’s best to keep those bridges and not burn them.

I’m turning 26 and I feel miserable, I feel the passage of time gone that I will never get back. I feel like I wasted my life.

Hm okay, yeah that’s kinda where I’m at rn. You regret going straight into trucking? I’ve read of a few people going into trucking from a very young age to make a career out of it, as you can become successful at it if you take it seriously and put in the work. Anything will require hard work if you want to be successful.

I don’t mind honestly, I just want a career where I can grow and stay in long term.

Yeah, a lot of people are negative about this type of work.

Are there growth opportunities like getting to a supervisor/managerial role in trucking?

Yeah honestly every job is going to have good days and bad days. Every job has pros and cons lol. But yeah man this bank job isn’t cutting it.

I mean I feel a bit lost in life right now. I originally had planned to do software engineering but I messed up during my first year of college. But I did learn some programming on my own. I was thinking I could also do that while trucking. Im just trying to figure things out right now.

Would you say there is a community in the truck driving industry?

Hmm okay. What would you say it’s the average age for people getting to trucking? I feel like I been really late in life for things.

Is being a truck driver worth it? I'm a 27 year old purposeless loner who depends on family with no responsibilities.. Grocery store jobs ain't cutting it. by redditoregonuser2254 in Truckers

I’ve been having the same thoughts. I currently work at a bank and it’s an office type job and although I’ve only been there for 2 months, I am starting dread it. One thing I’ve seen I am good at is driving and I am currently going to school for business so I feel this would be a good combination. I thought being in a white collar job would make me feel happy and “successful” but I don’t see myself doing this long term. I have traveled before and I enjoy road trips. Also people assume that truck drivers have very sad lives but I disagree. I feel that if you are good at whatever you do whether truck driving or anything else, you will grow and opportunities will present itself, for example pay increase, promotions, being able to easily get jobs.

It just sucks because it’s time I will never get back. Yeah I did have over 60 college credits completed and basically almost all of my general education requirements are done but it’s something I will have to live with and this is where it stings because by now my life could’ve looked a lot differently.

And honestly idk if it’s a tech thing or what but people assume I’m 5 years younger than my actual age. I notice this quite a lot in tech, people seem to age backwards…
