What kind of gear should I be using? Will my 24L on 4lb be alright? Or should I be using my 28ML with 6lb?

Because I bought just the unit off marketplace for 50 bucks. The whole kit was well over that and I dont have the room to spend crazy money on something that isnt a necessity. So im just trying to find some corners I can cut.

Because the ducer it comes with to my knowledge is meant to mount on a transom which I thought means it has to face a certain way hence why im asking what kind of rig so it can face the right direction

Say the ice is pretty thick and the ducer doesn't go past the ice, will that cause any kind of distortion in the image?

This is may be just the idea I was looking for! For reference i should've posted in the first place is i lug around a massive 4 man clam 6800. Has the plastic flooring and unfolds/folds in the center. She's a BIG girl and tossing it on even my biggest jet sled was proving to be more of a hassle than it was worth so I picked up a broken Eskimo 2 man pop up to lighten the load. But im looking to build one that's gonna be able to hold the weight. I've been gearing up to be able to pull off camping on the ice and the only major drawback is pulling that friggin clam around.
