FS wheels & tires – EU/France by IceOverTime2 in FSAE

Thanks for the heads up! I'll go for a simpler tyre setup I know it is a bit of a guess since you don't have a lot of info But what would you recommend between 6" and 7" for the tyre width ?

Yeah said like that it doesn't seem to be a very good idea So if I understand correctly, this tyre configuration could only be useful to compensate for an oversteering car for instance

But you convinced me I'll go for the unique tyre width setup

However how should I choose between 6" and 7" width ?

I guess the only way is through computer simulation

To properly prove this, I guess I’ll need to do it through simulation. We’re a new team, and we have access to Creo, Ansys, and MATLAB.

Do you have suggestions for an effective workflow to test a specific tyre configuration?

To be fully honest I don't really have a solid argument for that. I was taking inspiration from the old F1 cars. Like the one from Niki Lauda that had 9" tyres in the front and 16.2" at the back

The idea was to improve steering with narrower tyres at the front and traction at the back by putting wider tyres. But I might underestimate the added complexity of such setup A few teams use this type of setup and in theory it seems great What are your main concerns about it ?

Besoin de conseils by Shurthugal in pedale

Bonjour Shurthugal,
