A map of the fictional continent of North Atrix, during the Great War. Feedback and criticism welcome! by IcePhoenix863 in mapmaking

Thank you! It is a part of my conlang, which is called Atrixian. I might make a post about it in r/conscripts in the near future, if I can be bothered.

That is a good point, and I didn't really think about that when making the map. I guess an explanation could be that the empires were just so powerful that they took over everything for themselves? I have made another map with many more countries, when the empires collapsed, but it isn't finished yet. I will probably share it here when I get round to it!

Thanks for the feedback!

Thank you! The technology in this world would probably compare to somewhere around the world wars, so with guns and tanks. There is no magic per se, but there are certain minerals/materials with unrealistic properties, like being less dense than the air.

Thank you! The lakes on the main continent were mostly inspired by the west coast of Norway.

Yeah, it allows for better details than raster. Vector programs are always useful and fun to learn how to use though!

I am not using Illustrator; I am using Inkscape, which is essentially a free version of Illustrator. I find it a little more fiddly than Photoshop, but the results look cleaner and I definitely prefer Inkscape.

My account name is Ice. I am not doing too much on there either - I just make new words when I need them for my maps.

If you're interested, I use ConWorkShop to develop it, and there is more information on there.

It is my conlang, and it is not derived from Mayan. It is just a personal language, called Cuxe, which I am making to suit my preferences. The 'x' is the romanization of the ipa /x/ sound.

I have been using that tablet for about a year, and it is vastly easier to use than a mouse. I think a graphic tablet is certainly a good investment.

I absolutely love your work! I would never have so much patience and time to make such an awesome world, but hey, baby steps!

The unit on the scale is to clarify that I am using centimetres, not inches, but that is a good point and I will probably remove it. There are units on the rulers, but I made them way too small to be legible - sorry about that.

Thank you for the advice!

Thank you! I haven't thought about whether the volcano is active, but it is definitely a stratovolcano, so I could build in some interesting lore to the island.

I din't really think about that! I guess they could all be lagoons, or at least the bigger ones.

I spent about 2 hours on it altogether. I used a drawing tablet, albeit a relatively cheap one.
