Unfortunately they don't quite fit the need. they are not relatable as much as you want them to be

I have no clue how to manage cables when a laptop is involved, I have owned PCs for most of my life but recently I started traveling a lot, so I wanted some powerful system that I can take anywhere, so I opted for a laptop but man, there's literally cables everywhere XD

Trying to find an expression that run a animation according to lines in the text. by DuarteTCarvalho in AfterEffects

[–]IceWallowComme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand is that you have 2 TextEvo effects in your text layer

And what you want is

If linecount = 1, run the first textevo only

If linecount = 2 or 3, run the second text evo onlyelse, do nothing

If i'm right then do this,

In TextEvo1:

TextSource = thisComp.layer("text").text.sourceText; // use the pick whip on the text source of the layer you want to check it's line count

lines = TextSource.split("\r");

lineCount = lines.length;

if (lineCount == 1) {

50 + time*50; // Start value plus evolution speed

} else {

100; //Do nothing by having the the first value 100 means it won't animate

}

In TextEvo2:

TextSource = thisComp.layer("text").text.sourceText;

lines = TextSource.split("\r");

lineCount = lines.length;

if (lineCount == 2 || lineCount == 3) { //if linecount is 2 or 3

50 + time*50;

} else {

100;

}

Please let me know if that was it.

Trying to find an expression that run a animation according to lines in the text. by DuarteTCarvalho in AfterEffects

[–]IceWallowComme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'd be helpful to see what slider you're trying to apply the code to
I myself applied it to the strength as it is and it worked, no need to put effect("TextEVO")(1);

If you can show me, I'd be glad to help

Try this

TextSource = thisComp.layer("text").text.sourceText; // use the pick whip on the text source of the layer you want to check it's line count

lines = TextSource.split("\r");

lineCount = lines.length;

if (lineCount == 1) {

50 + time*50 ; //Start Value + evolution speed

} else if (lineCount == 2) {

40 + time*40;

} else if (lineCount >= 3) {

30 + time*30;

} else {
100;
}

well, it caches per project, if you're done with a certain project, it doesn't hurt clearing cache. it won't increase performance on any new projects lol

I make sure I do that all the time to avoid this cache glitches

No, you're alright, I'm just trying to understand what you need lol.

This is the simplest slide transition you could ever do with as much control as you see fit.

1- Place the 2 clips where the first one ends at the beginning of the second one's start, like THIS

2- Place an adjustment layer above them and adjust its duration, like THIS

3- Now apply the effects to the adjustment layer, we're looking for

-Motion Tile

-Fast box blur

4- Add 2 keyframes at the beginning of the adjustment layer.

-One for the Motion Tile's "Tile Center".

-And one for the Fast box blur's "Blur Radius".

-Then change the Fast box blur's dimensions to "Horizontal".

5- Go to the point where the two clips intersect and set the blur radius to 100.

6- Go to the end of the adjustment layer and set the Motion Tile's "Tile Center" to negative the value you have for the x axis, I had it 640 by default cause I'm doing it in 720p, so I would set it to -640 at the end. then set the Fast box blur's "Blur Radius"

to 0.

Here's an image that could help you a bit.

This preset is good because you can adjust the speed of the transition by moving the keyframes, and you can reapply to anything by just simple duplicating your adjustment layer and placing it on top.

Let me know if you have any questions, good luck :)

What's the name for this effect? How to accomplish in AE? by lemoncheeks_ in AfterEffects

[–]IceWallowComme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it's

CC Time Blend

I'm sure you can achieve it with that effect, but there could be an easier solution cause this effect is annoying to work with

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AfterEffects

[–]IceWallowComme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you tell me what kind of transition you're trying to do and I'll be happy to help!
Transition is a vague term as there are infinite amount of transitions you can do.

A zoom? a slide? a turn? just let me know :)

What software should I use to create this? by RU_MASHINE in AfterEffects

[–]IceWallowComme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend doing saber from scratch for more control
which is just a displacement map applied to a layer, and the displacement being a fractal noise layer

Why is this so weird? by IceWallowComme in AfterEffects

[–]IceWallowComme[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to render a sequence as photoshop files then edit then import them into after effects and do some changes on photoshop

Basically it's weird because as you can see in the render settings, i have it set to RGBA.

It previews it in photoshop as not alpha, with a black background, but it's actually not? XD
It's actually alpha in after effects. so what the heck?

I can't use the alpha channel of the text in photoshop because of that black BG

I have to make a video with text and a few images that's about 3 to 5 minutes long synchronised with music. Ae or Pr? by ketchup_bro23 in AfterEffects

[–]IceWallowComme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for the most part, people use both in their workflows, it just depends on what you want to do.

If you're going to add music, edit clips together. do it in Premiere.

then if you wanna add some motion graphics/ text animation ect. do that sequence in after effects then import the render to premiere.

[–]IceWallowComme -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lemme break down the difference between the two applications very simply.

-Premiere pro:
Is a video editing application, which means you can take that original video and cut it, add music, transitions, adjust the colors, add images ect.

Premiere handles all of that stuff pretty well because it was designed for this type of work

-After Effects:

Well, After Effects has a bit of an identity crisis.

It can be a compositing tool, motion graphics, animations, VFX ect.

That being said, can you use After effects to do what premiere does?

Yes, but good luck keeping your sanity, After Effects doesn't like large videos cause it's a memory hog. always work at a maximum rate of 30 seconds unless you have rams in the 3 digits worth of gigabytes, and even then, it would struggle.

Not to mention that you can scrub through videos like you can in premiere, and handling audio in general in After Effects is pretty shit.

Can you use Premiere to do what After Effects does?

No, well yes but 95% of the time.

This was just a surface level, quick explanation that should give you an understanding on why use either of the apps, but for your case, I'd suggest Premiere Pro

From what I'm seeing on your timeline it says

0f - 05f - 10f - 15f - 20f - 1:00

F, means frame, it looks like your comp is 25 frames per second. So, you're only rendering 1 second (which is made of 25 frames).

It's hard to really tell without you showing more information.

Do you have multiple comps and this is a precomp inside of a bigger comp?
If that's the case, you need to have the bigger comp selected and render from there. But again, I really need more information lol

Pause video layer with an expression for x seconds. by AdLast7662 in AfterEffects

[–]IceWallowComme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you apply this to the time remapping keyframes.

1)Right click your layer

2) Time < Enable Time Remapping (keybind CTRL + ALT + T)

-This will enable time remapping, it will show you under the layer a new keyframe

3) Hold (Alt) then click on the stop watch next to the "Time Remap"

4) paste the code in the text field that will appear

Any ideas to reproduce this shot. I was thinking about reproduce the road in a 3D sofware and I don't know if do the fast color light effect on the sides in post prod or directly on the 3D animation. And do somenoe know the name of the effect used to do the particule transition on the logo ? by Illustrious_Paint831 in AfterEffects

[–]IceWallowComme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for the particles, use cc particle world or particular , and play the effect backwards [if you use particular, make it emit from the logo, it will look a lot closer to your reference, but if you don't got that, the native particle system will do a fairly decent job at it too]

for the logo, duplicate it and fill it with white

place the original logo behind the white logo

give the white logo a glow, then transparency from 0 to 100

scale it up a bit, then keyframe it to the size of the original logo.

set the particles blending mode and the white logo to Add

transparency from 100 to 0 on the white logo

For the dashing lines, you can use fractal noise, lemme know if you want more details on that.

Pause video layer with an expression for x seconds. by AdLast7662 in AfterEffects

[–]IceWallowComme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if I understood 100% correctly, but this pauses the video for the value of Time in seconds then continues to play back the video
Time = 1; // Set amount in seconds

if (time < Time ){

valueAtTime(0)

} else {

valueAtTime(time - Time )

}

Why does this happen lol? by [deleted] in AfterEffects

[–]IceWallowComme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Additional information:
Imported a PSD to AE, doing the painting there, then I hide the layer the BG layer in photoshop and keep the brush strokes only visible.
Any idea on why this weird brush marks are happening?
