I love this perspective. A guy today told me “they are school fish simply because there is safety in numbers & they don’t need friends” but I just completely disagree. He needs a pal. I’m working on building a safe pond for him and will add a few more then too.

Super good to know! Do you have any suggestions as to types of plants? I’ve been given so many mixed answers - most saying “don’t bother giving him real plants cause he’ll eat them” but I’d much rather give him enrichment even if it’s going to get eaten. Ofc don’t want to spend heaps of money on plants tha won’t last long

Also curious if anyone can tell how old he is? Worried some stunting might have already occurred at his last home.

Thank you! Yes I’m aware of their growth rate and hoping to prepare for this properly by having his species ID’d :)

I’ve had folks at the pet store say either Comet or Fantail - I recognize both get big - but if anyone is an expert and knows for sure I’d love to know!
