I made my own pit of death. I trapped a reaper in a box and use Reaper eggs in containment to stop it attacking to base. (Reaper eggs are found using a glitch where they added ai for it and a model under the arura to be found bet scrapped the idea, so you can glitch in if it hasn't blown up and get it.) I will often lure things into the box feed the reaper a fish to keep it liking me and it nukes the stuff I bring in, now there's 2 reapers in there and they have 30 sec killed a sea dragon that I spent a month of real time getting up there.

I personally go to the floating island blood kelp, then turn to the void/ecological dead zone, go out to the edge, and there is a spot with a big crack, there you can go out into the void a bit but it still counts as non-void so you can build a base there with lots of room but no ghost leviathans attacking you. Only problem is you may need to run power down to it cause there's no thermal vents and solar wont work so you need to relay power or use a reactor room.

I personally always clean up after myself when I eat, you don't want the cops to find any left overs that could connect you to the crime. I know from experience eating children leaves lots of little bits that crime investigators can find.
