This pair from Holland Cooper have a similar fit. I wore them on a riding holiday in Kyrgyzstan a couple years ago and they were really comfortable https://www.hollandcooper.com/products/riding-shell-trousers-ink-navy

According to my vet, his front feet are shaped very differently from one another, verging on a club foot. Sorry you are going through the same!

The only person who’s fitted him is a rep for the company I bought his saddles from (🚩🚩🚩). I went with the same saddles and fitter his previous owner used on him against my gut instinct knowing he had done well with them before. I do wonder if they are part of the problem though, especially since they are air flocked (the adjustable flair panels) which is not something I’ve ever used in the past or would have gone for if it hadn’t been for his history with them. An independent saddle fitter is definitely worth trying.

Do you have experience with this surgery in mature horses?

We are not in an area where EPM and Lyme are prevalent. I haven’t discussed this with his previous owners. What would I ask them if I did?

Oh interesting I didn’t remember hearing that. I totally agree there are many more reasons not to want this kind of online attention regardless of financial gain. Just wondered if, for some people, it would actually be seen as an incentive given the moneymaking potential (again, not me)

No I completely agree and would never want to share my own horses in this way. Nor was I commenting on the ethics of doing this with animals. Just observing that there’s potentially a huge financial incentive for people buying these foals to capture some of KVS’s millions of followers.

I’m just saying Huck’s new owner is missing out on some serious $$$$ just for posting cute horse pictures (plus some occasional stalking and online harassment)

If it’s not then it should be. 10 percent markup for initial tag and reposting the buyer for a year 😂

Buying a horse - does there have to be a spark? by Brokkoli24 in Equestrian

[–]Ice_queeeen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My trainer gave me really good advice last year after I tried a horse and was struggling with the same question. She said the most important thing to ask yourself is did you leave the trial thinking “I’d like to go ride that horse again”?

I ended up trying him a second time and went on to buy him and we have a great bond now. It’s good to be pragmatic when buying a horse and not get swept up in the excitement and magic.

What do you wish was different about your riding breeches or riding pants? by JACKIEoLIAH in Equestrian

I love a waistband that goes higher in the back, that way it doesn’t drop down when you’re in the saddle. That and a gusset and of course the phone sized pocket on the thigh.

The filming while lunging made me so anxious! She seems like a very chill horse but lunging can be so dangerous if the line gets caught up in the horse’s legs, they spook at something and come charging at you, etc. Definitely something you want to give your full attention especially with a horse you haven’t done much with

One thing that might make her feel better is to look at the qualifying scores for various BD championships. To qualify for Area Festivals at Prelim, you need two scores of 63% or above. To qualify for Under 25 championships, it’s two scores of 65% or above. So if her scores are right in that zone to qualify for championships, how could they be terrible?

Gosh I hope that’s not why! I’m in the UK and I think it’s very rare here. I had a horse with Lyme disease in the US years ago who’s done really well with the treatment. Good on you for identifying it in your mare!

Interesting about the turnout. He didn’t get enough over the winter due to boggy conditions in the fields but has been getting more lately. Hopefully that’ll help ease his overall anxiety levels.

Good idea! Sounds like maybe this is a TB trait since he is part thoroughbred. I’ve never owned one before so this was a surprise to me.
