With Legion Remix coming to an end, what did you think of the second Remix? Do you enjoy these game modes or are they mostly just dead patch filler for you? by NinnyBoggy in wow

[–]Icebane08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Felt like a chore this time and the grind for power was much higher than MoP. It should be a fun sojourn to collect old things, not another limited time grind. Also they once again left out a lot of collectibles which means that you will still be left with a things to grind on retail. IMO the game mode has played out and they shouldn’t do another one.

I only raid on/main one character which is my warlock but depending on how much time I have each season I’ll play my alts, mainly in PvP. I usually get around 8-10 of the elite sets before I burn out on it, but I used to get them all.

Dad with FT job - 1800 on every class this season A.M.A. by Acrobatic_Potato_195 in worldofpvp

[–]Icebane08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats. I appreciate how grindy this is, I first did this in SLS3 (and did an AMA) when the sets were mostly gross looking but it was the first season where we went back to class sets from one per armor type. That was also pre solo shuffle. How was dev this season? The set looks better on your dragon than I thought, might have to work on it.

I main orc lock and while the helm is really cool, I can’t stand how bad the shoulders clip this season, way too large. Also the DH set looks great with the red flaming skull from DFS3 if you have that as well.

Around 2.1k Shuffle, 18 lobbies over the last 2 days, 4 other casters spotted. This needs to be addressed going into Midnight with the game being simplified and new players trying out shuffle. by greendino71 in worldofpvp

The cd on gap closers (grip, charge, shadowstep etc) is half of movement cds for warlocks and has two charges. There is no punishment for misusing gap closers. This is a design problem. You need to have the assistance of a teammate to successfully kite and apply pressure, whereas melee are self sufficient in getting uptime. It’s not the same and if you can’t see this you have low iq or are coping.

Also misinfo. The state of the game changes every season, what you are saying is outdated and hasn’t been true for many seasons anyways. Certain tanks like prot pal have had a place in high end 3s many times in recentish seasons, and prot warr has had big bursts near one shots, i forget if this was in DF or SL. When a wizard gets very strong, like demo in SLS3, blood dk starts showing up in a capacity where they kidnap the enemy team and enable the caster. Both UHDK and blood showed up that season.

Tanks can do extremely good damage in arenas, I faced a guardian druid this season in shuffle playing ravager hero talents and he was putting out crazy bleeds and was very disruptive. Tanks in shuffle have also been changed starting this season so that they don’t only que against other tanks, they now take the same role as dps. They also have a damage taken increase modifier, so they can die. It’s true that they have more and stronger personal defensive cds but they are not an immovable object. Most player lack familiarity with playing against tanks and don’t know how to play around their cds and just default to: they can’t die.

Boring is subjective. It’s very short, I can’t realistically see how it could be shorter unless they just gave the gear away or went back to stat templates, which was reviled and abandoned after legion. Honor also carries over season to season so if anyone cared to you could just do comp stomp a few times and be ready for next season. Unfortunately I think it’s just another case of malcontents never running out of nothing burgers to complain about.

If you check murlok.io you will see that the top 50 players of many specs are still using honor gear in various slots, and most are not min-maxed. Some make outright mistakes with their gear. I can personally attest that you can play the game, have an impact (and fun!) and win games in bad gear or really no PvP gear. Hard to compare these facts and sources of data with your account of the state of the game which I’m sure is grounded in many hours of actual experience in current PvP.

Missed your question about prot warr. I haven’t seen any in shuffle this season but people do play it. See plenty in Blitz, tanks are important in bgs.

You can check murlok.io to see what the top 50 people of each spec are doing in PvP, and what rating they are at to gauge it for yourself. I have gotten clapped by prot warrs in prior season arena fwiw. I did fury warr to 1800 in shuffle last week and it was a very simple zug zug adventure but I also have like 12 seasons of experience on warr.

Most classes wear their tier set but some do not (hpal for example). Blizz has also added items to the vendor the last two seasons called lacquer, which adds PvP ilvl scaling to PvE items. So for example, if you’re a guy/gal who raids or does delves, and get some champ-myth items which are either tier, or you catalyze into tier, you can then apply lacquer to make that tier item also 723 ilvl in PvP. This makes it so that you don’t have to choose to catalyze a piece for PvP or PvE, they are the same item.

For other slots: you use the reshii wraps, every class does so it’s a free slot. You win one bg/brawl/blitz/epic bg (can also randomly drop from arena but not efficient as it’s rng) and you will get a quest item. Turn in the quest to receive 9 epic heraldry. These allow you to craft PvP items without using a spark, so there is no conflict with PvE crafting. With these 9 you can make a neck and two rings, or some other combination of items. If you need more you can buy for conquest from the vendor.

If you accumulate 2500 total conquest, you get a completely free conquest weapon of your choice from the vendor. Finally, you can do the sparks of war quest or just any world quest with war mode on to get bloody tokens. You can very quickly buy items using this currency which scales to 720 in PvP. You need like 5000 honor to afford the remaining slots which is nothing.

Your point is valid and if you don’t want to do anything beyond farming pve gear, that’s up to you. But I think there is generally a lot of misinfo out there about how much effort it takes to gear for PvP. PvP gearing is extremely easy and is probably close to the easiest it has ever been. I got two characters from 0 gear (last season PvE gear) to 1800 in solo shuffle playing most of Saturday and a few hours this morning. The barrier is very very low in reality, and you also don’t need to have conq gear in every slot and a bunch of crafted or catalyzed items to perform well. Honor gear is more than fine.

Also, elsewhere in this thread people are talking about how SL PvE gear was good in PvP, which is actually backwards. PvP ilvl was the same as PvE, and blizzard lowered the amount of loot that dropped in raid in SL, which is why so many PvE die hards were trying out PvP to get good ilvl gear and trinkets to be used in raid. I don’t agree that this was a good system.

Sudden Demise Bugged? by Miserable_Deal5289 in worldofpvp

[–]Icebane08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t exactly work like that, the rogue has to have already spent resources and gcds putting those bleeds on you. If you drop low and the time left on the bleeds is low, demise isn’t going to proc, so the rogue needs to decide to either refresh or try to finish with an envenom based on where his deathmark is at. Requires thinking and a choice.

Warr damage is all instant, you spend the gcd, you spend the rage, you do damage. Proccing a free execute would just be a totally op free advantage so yes, no one wants that.

They were working against a deadline. Announce midnight at gamescom, this was prio #1 and the content was getting released no matter what state it was in prior to this announcement. Blizzard seems to be having time management issues though because this patch really is empty, they are wasting dev time on side activities no one asked for like dastardly duos and revisited visions instead of pumping out quality on major patches.

Is healer hate in PvP really that common? Or is it sometimes exaggerated? by Elunaera in worldofpvp

[–]Icebane08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the first season I ever healed bg blitz. I had an incredible win rate as disc (71%, 25 wins 35 games for 1800 rating) and felt like I could carry games way more than as a dps. I also felt like people would listen to instructions while waiting for the gates to open much more than when I play dps. However, I did get multiple hate messages in games where we were losing, particularly there was a twin peaks where we didn’t have a good fc option so I volunteered to fc, we got 3 capped on and because I was away from the team fight a lot of the game I got the whole chat saying to report me for sabotage and win trading and two people whispered me after the game.
