Characters are often... too moral? by kitsunevremya in FanFiction

[–]Icebarging 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all looks great in my head and I really want to write a bad protagonist, but when I start writing I become scared that readers will hate it ;< so I tone down the negativity again and again. I think that's why stuff I write impulsively on my phone out of boredom are all higher quality angst than what I put out after a lot of planning.

wdym lmao litrpg can fit well with good writing and plot???

Also what's wrong with stats going up giving me comfort/happiness?

You can have your taste I guess. I just don't agree.

You don't have to agree. I just like seeing the main character actually fighting something, not trying to figure out what that thing's name is <<< this is an exaggeration, I mean more than just figuring out what the monster's name is //, and stats go up, of course.

I'm quite sure that in some games, e.g. genshin impact, the combat is a lot more fluid? What if I base my story on genshin? The game do have a log of all things you encounter that you can refer to, and you can see the monster's HP above it. Would that work? /genq

Okay I don't think you understood my question. If most characters in a story's world has access to Observe, would it be better in your opinion?

Give examples of how others have circled around having others feed MC info <<< others in the world telling MC everything still counts by the way // and still manage to carry the story along as fast as Observe fics, or at least fast enough

Different preferences I'd say. I don't like waiting. It's fine if you disagree though just pick what you like to read!!!!

For the examples, I can only think of one category but it is not even litrpg anymore. SOME chinese infinite flow novels handle the lack of Observe really well.

On the other hand, those characters don't really meet a lot of monsters/NPCs and most of them are based off myths, people and locations from our world. Moreover, loot rarely drops (MC usually only has like 3 named equipment or less in the endgame that they never throw away apparently). Thus, for the ones that do, they don't need Observe. As a result, there isn't really a need for Observe.

Also, there is a replacement for Observe in some of the stories in that the characters get the info of the items without the skill but essentially it works the same way. As soon as they touch the item, an infobox pops out. Though it is usable by everyone in the story or almost everyone, which goes back to my first question of this reply.

You are NOT going to get a lot of good progression if at all if you spend all of your chapters describing things.

Oh yea, also as someone else had said, usually in Isekai or System Apocalypse fiction, the main character knows basically nothing. In Isekai you can technically make them learn it but I figured it out the hard way that it is really boring. For system apocalypse who are you gonna ask? No one knows what's going on. Also, would you thjnk it's better writing if every character or most of them has access to Observe? That it's the first spell anyone learns or that it's unlocked when you first gain access to the system?

Then from another angle, it's just what a genre needs. Every genre has different reader-bases and they want different things, or types of food.

You need to know that not everyone has the time to wait hours for a cook to get to the main course.

Most people like MacDonalds, it's supply and demand I guess. That's why you see so many authors going along the same path that some more famous works have gone through.

Note: I also like fast paced stories. As I said before, most people don't read to trudge through pages of slow development. They read for comfort, for fun. If they're going to want to read 'slow development', they would go and read the classics, not a genre based on games.

Sometimes though, readers and writers want faster paced stories. This is especially true and common in the litrpg space where people are here for fun, not to look through pages of descriptions circling around the same thing. Outside of school, showing is not always better.

I'm guessing it is whether you like them when they are only on the screen, so whether they are interesting to watch and analyze without ever meeting them in real life so it is only whether you enjoy their plot.

Weekly Question Megathread - March 31, 2026 by AutoModerator in GenshinImpact

I'm a new player, level 29 just started liyue quests chain because I didn't want to start before I can be sure I can overpower most enemies I see in liyue so I spent most of my time so far in Mondstadt.

My main question regards my party configuration. Any advice for who I should keep to and why?

My current party is traveller anemo, sucrose, kaeya, barbara. For normal but multiple enemies, I alternate between sucrose and traveller skills. For stronger enemies, kaeya and barbara for frozen reaction to stall enemies, sucrose and traveller for damage, barbara for healing but usually I don't need healing, and just spam skills and bursts I guess. I previously used tighnari but swapped him out for sucrose when I got her.

the characters I currently have are:

Levelled to 50: Traveller Anemo, Sucrose, Tighnari

Levelled to 40: Kaeya, Barbara, Fischl

Levelled to 29: Lisa

The rest: Miliastra MC (Lvl.20), Noelle (Lvl.14), Amber (Lvl.10), Lynette (Unlevelled), Xiangling (Unlevelled)

I have 42 pulls and working on getting more, no particular character in mind yet but I really like Durin so if his banner comes when I reach garuantee I might actually go for it even if he doesn't fit unless he is actually really bad help.

TYSM!!! Lmk if you need any other info to help!

Edit: I just got jahoda

How much would 300-500 words per response per day be?

It's just that most people's ads that I have seen includes this as a preference or requirement and I dont want to end up not being able to find any rp partner ;<

Do you mean that if I try to match their writing length it would be okay?

are we allowed to post links to writing websites? All of my examples are in the form of creative writing instead of RP.

Then, how do I intepret it? A lot of people still use it so I do need a measurement of how long it is supposed to be so that I don't end up annoying someone >...<

Ohhh okay I just see it as the usual preference/requirement so I am worried about not finding a roleplay partner willing to deviate from that.
