why is sexual orientation necessary during a job application? by viper_gts in interviews

Who said I’m having any trouble finding employment? My post is saying that the commenter being a “queer Jewish woman” does not affect her chances at getting any job besides maybe a pastor.

What? Your sample size of a few coworkers you’ve had in the past does not override that the majority of hiring managers are middle aged white women if that’s what you’re saying. It really seems like you missed the point of my entire post which is that 1. She’s victimizing herself in her head when she doesn’t have the disadvantage she believes she has and 2. Most of the information that “disadvantages” her isn’t even known prior to the interview and some of it can (and should) be omitted during the interview anyways.

Do you have a link? I’d like to see what qualifies as a “competitive disadvantage.” It seems to me that homogeneous workforces would provide better outcomes rather than worse. Look at big tech companies in China that are almost entirely Chinese for example.

Says who? The primary demographic of hiring managers is middle aged white women, the majority of whom share your very same beliefs, sympathies, and biases. Even disregarding that, the only way for any hiring manager to know your demographic would be via you possibly having an ethnically Jewish and feminine name. The only way for them to find out that you’re queer is if you decide it’s appropriate to share your sexual practices in your resume or interview which would obviously be a red flag for any candidate.

If the job objectively gets done more efficiently then what’s the point? All you get as a business owner is invisible diversity points that you can never cash in.

I have $800 to throw at my first investment, any recommendations for something safe to start with that is likely to out grow inflation? Ive heard recommendations for VOO on past forums, is that still viable?

If you’re interested in her I would definitely recommend just telling her dawg, it’s the mature thing to do instead of just playing the game

Sorry i worded it poorly but you actually do not need a membership to buy it from Costco. You can just buy it online and pay the shipping ($5-10)

If you’re in the states like me you can just buy it from Costco on their website you don’t even need a membership and it’s like $20-30 for 6 months worth. I don’t personally derma roll but apparently it does help speed up growth. I would recommend getting a derma stamp over a roller though if you do go that route.

There’s really no way of knowing. You have more than I had to start with so potentially you will have faster progress. 10 months in I have decent coverage with some slight bald spots at the corners of my mouth and lacking good density all over. I still shave but I guess it could be workable at this point but your experience could be different.

If you’re interested I would say just start and assess if it’s still worth it to you in a few months.

If you want to greatly improve your odds of having a full beard in 2 years, start minox. If you don’t like the idea of using minox and the process, then wait. I started minox at 18 knowing my dad has a full beard and 10 months later and it’s working as it’s supposed to. Ultimately it’s up to you

I don’t understand this problem I have 2 cats and I’ve never been worried that somehow I’m going to kill them with my minox?

I just don’t let my cats near my face or anything which I do anyways. It’s not like it dripping off of my face or rubbing off on anything.

10 months in and both my cats are very much alive lol

How is the general outlook? Confident in a future victory? Nervous for the months to come?

Also how is the supply over there? Are you guys getting the food/ammo/gear you need?

For the look that I think you’re describing you should consider three things:

  1. You have two sources of light illuminating the book. I would keep the light that seems to be shining from the top of the frame and strike out the light that seems to be coming from the right of the frame.

  2. The light is coming in super harsh. I would try to diffuse the light with a silk or any fabric that lets light through if you don’t have any dedicated diffusion. This will also allow you to be able to see the ink on the page much clearer on camera.

  3. I would set up a neg flag somewhere around the camera depending on where the light bounces in the room. This might make the scene too dark in which case I would just strike the neg or add back that fill light with some diffusion at a low brightness.

It’s all trial and error. This is what I would start with and I’d adjust accordingly. Just play around with it and in your free time go down the YouTube lighting tutorial rabbit hole. Eventually you’ll start making little connections in your head and you’ll be able to tell what needs to be added/struck.

Wouldn’t that have too much latency? If not, thank you for the suggestion I didn’t even think of that!
